Hello lovely ladies

just asking has anyone been told they’re pre-diabetic?? My score is 42. I am slightly overweight but not much. I’m 5ft 10 tall and my diet is usually good and l walk everywhere. I’m 67 so getting on a bit!
Can anyone relate? Many thanks

Are you in UK? Lots of NHS trusts run education programmes now aiming at complete reversal
ask your GP if you haven’t been referred already

Diabetes doesn't just come from eating too much sugar - it's eating too much starchy carbohydrates like bread/rice/pasta etc. I've managed my type 2 by ignoring the low fat/low sugar rubbish that the NHS is still spouting, and followed a lower carb diet.

Freshwell is a good program to start off with. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

I have reversed my type 2 diagnosis ( gone from 94 to 46 to 36 to 34 and last test was 32) cut out all added sugars, cut back on carbs and when i do eat them i use the wholewheat / brown versions. I lost weight too which was probably the most help because i was about 4 -5 stone heavier than i should have been.
as an aside, i was offered the education course but it was totally awful for me, i already had a good knowledge of food and nutrition so it felt very patronising and aimed at people with no clue, many on the course were in denial so not interested and those like me with some knowledge all agreed they learnt nothing the leaflets / diabetes uk website couldn't tell us.

Cut down carbs. If you’re hungry add more protein or fat. Greek yoghurt for breakfast, not toast or cereal. Normal meals with fewer potatoes, pasta, rice.
