AIBU to want to be more confident sexually but feel too embarrassed to do anything about it?

I have a really good sex life with my partner and we’ve explored lots of different things together. We’re both happy with how things are, so this isn’t about him wanting me to change anything.
The issue is more with me and my own confidence. There are things I’d love to try, like dressing up and being a bit more adventurous, and I know he’d love it too, but I get embarrassed and end up shying away from it.

I don’t think I’m unattractive, but I seem to have this strange shame about my partner seeing me completely uninhibited. I’m much more confident when it’s dark.

I’m also a massive overthinker, and I think I worry about looking silly or feeling awkward rather than just enjoying myself. Alcohol makes it easier to let go, but obviously I don’t want to rely on that to feel confident.

I suppose I want to embrace that side of myself more, not because our sex life needs improving, but because I’d like to feel comfortable and confident enough to do the things I want to do without feeling embarrassed.

Has anyone else been like this and managed to get past it? What actually helped you feel more confident in your own skin?

Or am I just massively overthinking something that I need to stop worrying about? 😂

Build up slowly, things will just naturally progress. Work on your confidence so you aren't needing it to be dark.

My DH was really into the idea of me dressing up as a particular character. I found it helped if I actually believed I was this character. I got the outfit from a fancy dress store and tried to forget who I was and become them. I replicated their mannerisms and voice and even personality. For me it was easier when I completely believed it myself.

So happy when women decide to shirk off the shame of enjoying their bodies and one of the few things we have in life that's pleasurable. Good for you! Have you considered a sexy dance class? Belly dancing, pole dancing, I'm sure there are others! I reckon if you surround yourself with confident women who support you in being sensual, you'll come out of your shell in no time. I have done belly dancing before (briefly) - it's sooo much fun! You could blindfold your partner and see if you feel more comfortable letting go.. definitely get some sexy lingerie and/or costumes!! Why not?!
