Addicted to my phone

I’m a 33 year old, married, mum of 2 and addicted to my phone and it’s bloody pathetic.

I feel like I’ve got FOMO if I don’t sit and scroll all evening. I switch between Facebook, Mumsnet, Instagram and occasionally TikTok on a constant loop and if I don’t I feel like I’m going to miss something and it’s actually ridiculous.

I used to read 2/3 books on my kindle a week in the evenings as well as watching series with DH.

How do I break this habit?!

The thing that’s made me realise that this is an issue and needs to stop is that DD was showing me a drawing she’d done earlier and I said “that’s great darling” and as she walked away I realised I hadn’t looked up from my phone. I immediately put my phone down and sat down with her at the dining table and praised her drawing and then did some colouring and painting with her before we all went out for a walk around a national trust site and got some fresh air and quality time together (I left my phone in the car) but it was like a lightbulb moment!

Does anyone else struggle with this?

Buy a brick.

Google it. It basically sits on your fridge and when you press your phone to it it then locks apps you have asked it to.
So for me it's all you've mentioned. It means you can still txt/answer calls but can't get on any apps.

You have to tap it on the 'brick' to open them again.

When I WFH I block everything when I start work and I also block when I go to bed so I don't scroll for example. And when I go out with kids so I'm not tempted when sat on a park bench.

It's not cheap (35 ISH quid) worth every penny to me.
