Have posted before but this is an update. Had fibroids removed (only symptom flooding periods) in 2024 and has a Mirena fitted.

Had Mirena removed to investigate continued bleeding in June this year. Periods returned and went insane - extreme pain, whole abdomen bloated and level 8/9 pain for 48 hours, issues with bowels and bladder too due to pressure. Ended up in a&e.

Scan found a fibroid but not massive. Saw the surgeon today to discuss removal which I’m having (and coil refitted) in a few weeks. He thinks I also have endo and wanted to know if wanted the laparoscopy on the same day. I declined and want to see if treating the fibroid and reintroducing hormones works - mainly because a) I am high risk for laparoscopy due to extensive bowel surgery in childhood and he did say today there was a risk of accidental bowel damage just going in there and b) if they need to do a lot of excision I don’t have enough support right now in term sod childcare/work arrangement etc to actually recover form a much bigger op

But I’m feeling so deflated that I’m going to go through this procedure and the pain levels might not diminish anyway.

Have been prescribed the mini pill to try to repress periods til the op and also some pain relief suppositories in case I have more severe pain days (I’m due on next week).

i’m 44. The idea of another decade juggling this with work and kids is exhausting. I wish I’d never take the coil out and just dealt with permanant light bleeding - it was so much better than this

I would welcome any perspectives

TBH I’m gearing up for this to be the first of multiple surgeries
