To be surprised at the successful prosecution of Kevin Adams and his sexual assault on Andy Carroll

I hope I express this correctly and sensitively and not diminish what happened to Andy Carroll.

AC was in bed asleep and woke to find friend KA sexually assaulting him, struck out and KA fled. AC called the police, who arrested KA who was still on the property and denied any wrongdoing. No witnesses.

It’s just that so many women have had similar experiences and not believed and no successful prosecution yet this one was successful. My friend had an actual witness to a sexual assault, she was passed out in her bed and a friend assaulted her and this was witnessed. It was decided not to prosecute for lack of evidence. It nearly destroyed her.

Anyone else surprised this case in particular was successful or insight as to why? Wish this was more the case tbh.

Again, not diminishing that AC got believed and justice. That was good.

Did KA admit what he did eventually?

Men aren't believed either in cases like this.

I think he denied it the whole way through. The judge commented that he (KA) was so used to lying that he believed his own lies.

I was obviously pleased there was a successful prosecution but it did cross my mind that it was surprising given the success rate for prosecuting sexual assault.

However I guess we only have what the media printed not the full detail and I'm pleased for Andy Carroll that he got justice. What an awful thing to go through.

That Kevin person used to give me the creeps. I think he was around Jade Goody a lot when she was dying, in that he would do anything for the limelight.
I know as a trainer he would be strong but AC is a big lad he must have known he would have a fight on his hands. Perhaps thinking because AC is was a footballer he’d be embarrassed and say nothing.
Good for him for speaking up.
Sadly for women they aren’t often believed and don’t stand a chance with a bigger, stronger man on the attack.

I’m very pleased AC got justice but was also surprised given how I don’t think this would have been the outcome had Kevin been assaulting a female!

[Plus, unfortunately, had she woken up, it’s highly unlikely she’d have been able to fight him off & chuck him outside, so the outcome for a female would have been much worse all round!]

I think you have something wrong with you that you watched a man successfully convicted of sexually assaulting someone and you instantly jumped to your own agenda, rather than celebrating it tbh. Seems a lot more driven by hating men than it does having empathy for women

Women aren’t believed

The contrast with women’s experience is hard to miss. I remind myself that we don’t know all that the jury heard. My instinct when a sex abuse case is being tried, is to worry about how hard it is to get a conviction. So I tend to be surprised when it’s successful and wonder what made the difference.
