AIBU to question people criticising Boxing Day openings while shopping on Boxing Day

Talking to a former colleague who has left working a supermarket we both worked at. She will be starting work for the civil service on Monday. A different area of the cs to where I work

One thing she’s looking forward to is a reasonable amount off at Christmas. Both of us worked crap shifts at Christmas, whilst colleagues who have family nearby and work part time got the 26/27 Dec off. Plus some colleagues had to get taxis in as buses don’t run.

The conversation went onto opening on Boxing Day. We both had customers coming in on BD saying that it’s a disgrace that (supermarket) is open today. Double standards or what

Why do people are against shops open on BD and yet decide to visit them??? These are the idiots who keep the shops open. If people stayed at home or go to others’ homes, shops would stay closed. These customers bought either a couple of items or a full trolley

Against something but can avoid it? Don’t do it

I used to work for a business which was open on Sundays and it was a regular occurrence for customers to mention how sorry they feel for us having to work on a Sunday. Mate, you made an appointment. If you didn't, we'd not be here today.
