To put fox poop clothing straight into the washing machine. Slightly squidgy level of poop.

Personally I'd throw it away. Fox poo stinks and lingers.

SilenceInside · 01/10/2026 10:37

I don't think I would. I think I'd want to physically remove what I could, and then soak in biological powder or similar and rinse before doing a final proper wash. I would do the first two steps outside! Or, chuck the items away if they were not too expensive and replaceable.

MellowSubmarine · 01/10/2026 10:39

Surely you’d rinse/scrape/somehow remove as much as you could before putting it in the washing machine?
If it’s enough to “squidge” then it’s too much to go in the machine imo

Jellycatspyjamas · 01/10/2026 10:41

Yeah I’d scrape off as much as possible, soak in biological detergent and then wash in the machine. Same as with baby nappies.

MillicentMaybe · 01/10/2026 10:43

Whatever it is, it’d be in the bin.

OriginalSkang · 01/10/2026 10:44

I would scrape as much as possible, wipe it with antibacterial surface wipes on both sides of the fabric, spray vanish liberally on both sides of the fabric, put it on the highest temp wash on its own in the machine and then put the machine on a hygiene/clean cycle afterwards

dontforgetofeedthecat · 01/10/2026 10:45

I would hose them down outside first
and depending on what clothes they are, put them in a bucket with milton or something first

I know I can, but I don't even put muddy clothes in the wash, I always hose down everything so there's nothing on the actual fabric.

FlorenceAndTheVagine · 01/10/2026 10:45

Unfortunately I have experience of this via the medium of my disgusting dog. I hose off, soak outside in a bucket, then hot wash followed by a drum clean. I’m not buying a new dog collar every few months, but equally I’m not putting it straight in the machine - that’s rank.

Tortephant · 01/10/2026 10:48

Straight in the machine with soap. Re wash if required.

ThePeppyOpalScroller · 01/10/2026 10:48

I'd burn it.

GreenFootstool · 01/10/2026 10:49

No your machine will stink of fox shit for eternity.

The clothes may need to be binned tbh.

If that's not an option, hose it off outside, soak in a large bucket of vinegar THEN wash. With more vinegar. Lots of vinegar. White vinegar, not malt.

Whynottryagain · 01/10/2026 10:59

I'd scrap most of it off, then put it on a rinse cycle, then on a non-eco hot cycle like I did with nappies.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 01/10/2026 11:06

Chuck it in. Wash again if necessary.

CorporalJohn · 01/10/2026 14:12

If there's urine as well, put it in by itself and wash twice.
It not only stinks to high heaven, it lingers and spreads to other stuff you wash it with.
Bitter experience talking here.

NewGoldFox · 01/10/2026 14:14

It would have to be pretty special / irreplaceable for me to wash and not bin.
