Tik tok children

I’ve just seen a post where a young child of eight ish has been nominated four a tik tok award. Given the legislation that under 16s won’t be allowed social media will this be allowed to continue? I personally never felt comfortable with these children all over the internet doing dances etc and think it’s harmful to them in many ways.
but it really is two sides where we can’t let them have social media ( and rightly I feel) but we can have them earning their parents accounts huge followers and potentially money/gifts

It's absolutely ridiculous double standards if they are actually giving young children awards on a platform they are deemed not old enough to actually have accounts on.

Personally I feel the problems for society that Tiktok is creating is horrendous and I wish there was a move to ban it altogether.

Me too. It’s an awful platform.
if children can win awards for being on a social
media platform documenting their lives but have no consent over this and can’t use the site themselves it is very much double standards

I blame the parents. 😉

as a business though, it’s no different to children working on tv and films that aren’t suitable for them to watch isn’t it?

I think the best thing would be if content creator children were subject to the same employments laws as child actors

Yes I agree totally, good point I hadn’t thought of that. Measures to protect them would be a step forward. And yes of course it’s down to the parents I don’t disagree, it just does not sit well with me at all
