Scared to put art on walls

Hear me out 😅 only ever lived in rented abd i just bought a place so now i can stick my friends massive paintings on my walls at long last. They are big paintings on stretched canvas, square, with mirror plates on both sides, centred. Its as simple as you stick a screw or nail through the little hole i kniw but im totally paranoid about my shit walls (thin plasterboard). Im worried about them cracking or me hitting an electric cable or something.

Could i just use the mirror plates as if they were d rings and attach picture wire, and then use a Claw picture hook??

How heavy are they? Anything more than 1kg or so you'll need plasterboard fittings. If they're lighter, adhesive fittings will do.
You can't just hammer directly or use normal screws. They're easy to find on Amazon or elsewhere. Just search for plasterboard picture hooks.

Regarding electricity wires, you'll probably be fine. Wires are legally required to run horizontally or vertically, so if you're not directly above or to the side of a socket or switch, you should be fine. You can buy cheap wire detectors if you really want to be careful, cowboys do exist. In
