It takes you 30 minutes to put 3 sorts of cheese on a plate?

Any fule kno that it takes time to properly plate up some Laughing Cow triangles, Babybels and Dairylea slices.

Well if the person putting the cheese out is also dealing with other more complicated food orders ahead of the cheese plate then fair enough.

I don't think a 5* hotel (which I can't imagine being) would be responsible for the actual plating up. I'm sure a member of staff would do it.

You'd have a point though if you are the only customers at the hotel and the staff were solely waiting around for your personal cheese order.

I worked in a busy pub kitchen and could have 30 orders for starters and sides at any one time. I also had to make sandwiches to order.

If customer 26 ordered "just a quick sandwich" they'd still have to wait for me to get to that ticket while I was doing the 25 orders that had come in before theirs.

And most likely it would arrive ice cold straight from the fridge, not room temperature so its flavour could be enjoyed.

Yes it does. You try plating up camembert with a full service staff and a swimming pool inside you and see how long it takes you. Huff.

They will have put it through as a dessert ticket so it will be behind all the other things. A good chef will spot it and fast track it but the dessert chef could have been knee deep in 20 crème brûlées.
As PPhave said they probably let it sit to warm up too.
If you mean room service I’ve been a RS waitress and it adds a bit of time as I was up and down lifts, waiting for people to exit showers and open doors (we had a 3 knock door policy with 30 seconds in between… it’s amazing how many people don’t answer their door then call down just as you get back to complaint about the wait) and there’s only a few of us.

What’s the rush ? You are out for the evening, enjoy a long meal. Nice break between courses means you appreciate them more.
