Health insurance

I have fallen out with my mother over health insurance. My mum is 82 living with blood cancer and has health insurance of £400 a month. I am 52 and also have blood cancer and am a single parent to two young teengaer girls and I have defaulted on my health insurance as I can’t afford it anymore.

I feel upset that she watches me default sits on all inheritance form grandparents dying etc has sold and now holds all the money and sees it all as hers. I am not money grabbing at all, I struggle to get through the month can’t afford clothes or to ever go out and I know if the tables were turned and my daughter with younger children I would pay for her insurance and not myself. I do anything for my children without question.

am not going to reach 82 72 or even 62. Am I being unreasonable? Maybe I am. Maybe I am taking my feelings out on her I don’t know. Please don’t be harsh in your responses

I’m really sorry to hear you’re unwell
are you in the UK? What treatment can you get / are you eligible for?
on face value if you’re mum has cash at hand and you’re very ill I’d feel pretty aggrieved
have you actually spoken to her about your situation etc?

Blood cancer is one that the NHS takes very seriously. What treatment is your mum recieving privately that you are not getting on the NHS?

My mum has leukemia and there is no cure she lives with it and has to be monitored once a year with a blood test. No treatment at all needed just annual
check ups
of which she tends to go only every few years as she (doesn’t want to know!) chemo etc would be introduced if it starts to progress rapidly rather than slowly

i have to be cheek every 6 months with my version of blood cancer and have to take a daily aspirin to thin my blood to prevent clotting and heart attacked abd have an annual check of my spleen. Chemo would be in reduced if my cancer speeds up.

I suffer from anxiety with the burden of two children my husband has left and the cancer and the private health care gives me peace of mind I would be tested for any heart attacks strokes (I’m high risk) clots or chemo should I need it without a long wait for chemo as my children are 14 not under 5yrs (those with chdilren under 5 yrs get priority)

thanks
