Will this be safe to eat?

Bought two of the Asda make your own pizzas yesterday (Thursday) for the kids to have as a treat tomorrow evening (Saturday). One veggie, one meaty ( pepperoni, ham and ground beef). Just noticed the use by date is today so moved them to the freezer but they have been in the fridge overnight when I guess I really ought to have frozen them on the day of purchase. Will they be ok to eat?

The pizzas won’t no that night time has already passed, I think itl be fine

TheWildZebra · 25/09/2026 12:42

Yes.

ColdAsAWitches · 25/09/2026 12:43

Of course it will be fine!

nomas · 25/09/2026 12:43

They will be fine.

I shudder to think of the food waste happening on threads like this.

CurlewKate · 25/09/2026 12:44

I’d probably have left them in the fridge, to be honest….

Whatifitallgoesright · 25/09/2026 12:49

I'm still eating some coleslaw that was use by 10 September. It's fine and not fizzy at all.

dingbat5 · 25/09/2026 12:49

I did think about leaving them in the fridge but with it being a use by date and one containing meat I didn’t want to risk it as it’s for the kids. If it was just me I wouldn’t be so bothered lol. Would you defrost them before cooking or cook from frozen?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 25/09/2026 12:50

Just cook it from frozen, it’s only pizza!

I agree. How did people manage before date stamps on food products?!

I have a vision of the two pizzas conferring as to whether midnight has passed or not 🤣

Laiste · 25/09/2026 12:53

If it's pepperoni it's a cured meat and won't go off easily!

CremeDeMure · 25/09/2026 12:55

I wouldn't have bothered with freezing.

Peonies12 · 25/09/2026 12:57

You know those dates are a load of rubbish? Use your nose and eyes.

Now I need to ask myself - do pizzas have feelings?

Microwave them to kill any germs.

Morecoffeeneedef · 25/09/2026 13:02

Absolutely fine.

JustWalnut · 25/09/2026 13:03

Like everyone else said, I wouldn't have even put them in the freezer. They'll be absolutely fine.

dingbat5 · 25/09/2026 13:04

Pepperoni is a cured meat. Ham and ground beef a little more risky. Anyway thank you all I will give my head a wobble.

PremierInnShafter · 25/09/2026 13:05

The amount of salt & preservative in pepperoni, ham and those weird beef bits - that meaty pizza will outlive you in the fridge.

I could go on a lecture about the hurdle effect and how use by dates are created but that's boring.

Your one day out of date pizza is fine in the fridge.

Well sweetcorn does, I have to include the last one from the side of the tin so it doesn't feel rejected. Ditto baked beans.

Me too! You so sweet and corn-siderate.

I do hope the mean girls commenting are teaching their kids not to ridicule someone just for asking a simple question.

It’s not that deep dingbat. You asked a bit of a silly question and got some lighthearted responses. People joking about talking pizzas and making corn jokes aren’t bullying you.
