AIBU for saying my DH needs to man tf up

DH has just gotten a very good job promotion, and I am very proud of him. Obviously. Lovely salary, lovely title, everyone congratulating him etc. BUT. He is destined for an even greater promotion (CEO level). Don't ask how I know this.
The problem is DH keeps saying he doesn't want to "get involved in office politics" and that “nature will take its course” I've tried encouraging him. I've said, hypothetically, if there was a person standing between my DH and the CEO position, then perhaps one might consider... removing the obstacle. metaphorically I mean
Also, I may have suggested that DH invite the current CEO round for a nice little dinner.Purely hospitality, obviously. DH said he was worried about the consequences, particularly the whole "divine judgement, eternal damnation" side of things. Blah blah blah
Honestly, he's overthinking it.
I am NOT saying DH should kill anyone. Obviously not... at least not with his eyes open. I'm only saying that hypothetically, if one wanted to rise to the very top, one might need to show a little more ambition
AIBU to think DH needs to man up and seize his opportunity?
FWIW, I’ve already laid out the plan, and the metaphorical dagger is just waiting to be used.

I think his next big task should be removing you from his life. God you sound awful

Agreed - but if she gets involved, she can’t wash her hands of it later.

Although Home Bargains currently has two litre refillable hand soap on offer so maybe if she stocks up.

What’s your career OP?

In broad terms it's informal diplomacy, reputation management and corporate succession planning. Oh, a lot of motivational speaking as well.

dodomin · Today 12:22

You're being unreasonable by saying "man" up. Like saying "grow a pair". If there's anything I've learned since having a baby, it's that women can take a heck tonne more of a bashing to the vagine and they are beyond courageous. Men ain't got one little doodoo one a woman's guts, they could never.

Can you tell I am 8 months into mat leave with baby no.2 who has all sorts of medical issues and about to disturb his nap to go pick up DD from nursery 🫠

And OP, you gotta do what you gotta do to get that man to the top. YANBU.

Alas, I suspect it won’t be long until the guilt proves too much for OP, probably at a dreadful time for her DH.

She’s also not afraid to get her hands dirty when needs be.

It ends pretty nastily for you, Lady Macbeth, after a really freaky dinner party. Tell your DH to look out for suspiciously-moving trees.

Omg you sound horrendous. Let the man enjoy his recent promotion and make his own career decisions and stop trying to force him up the greasy pole. How would you feel if he tried to interfere like this with your career? Do you have one? Maybe you should focus on that. .

dodomin · Today 12:25

I bet OP is a Scorpio.

InfoSecInTheCity · Today 12:26

Do you still think it’s the 70s, you’re Margot and this is The Good Life? Who invites the CEO round for a dinner party anymore?

True. With time I think the OP will come to realize just how strong and powerful she is. Let's just hope it isn't too late when the realisation hits.

She is focussing on her career. She’s trying her best and her DH really does need to pick up some of the slack.

MajorProcrastination · Today 12:30

What? Honestly, he's a big boy now, let him take care of his own career and you concentrate on your own.

thestudio · Today 12:30

Might be time to get your tucks in a row, OP.

How's your own career coming along ?

Hey, cut her some slack! It's not easy managing a large household while your 'D'H is always off getting into fights and chatting up weird bints in the woods. Just because she's a stay at home wife, doesn't mean her contribution is any less valuable.

I bet the boss is always rocking up to people’s houses and demanding hospitality.

OP will probably get a senior job at the company if her DH is CEO.

Things can get a bit overheated in Scottish firms these days.

Things without all remedy should be without regard: what's done is done.
