AIBU for saying my DH needs to man tf up

DH has just gotten a very good job promotion, and I am very proud of him. Obviously. Lovely salary, lovely title, everyone congratulating him etc. BUT. He is destined for an even greater promotion (CEO level). Don't ask how I know this.
The problem is DH keeps saying he doesn't want to "get involved in office politics" and that “nature will take its course” I've tried encouraging him. I've said, hypothetically, if there was a person standing between my DH and the CEO position, then perhaps one might consider... removing the obstacle. metaphorically I mean
Also, I may have suggested that DH invite the current CEO round for a nice little dinner.Purely hospitality, obviously. DH said he was worried about the consequences, particularly the whole "divine judgement, eternal damnation" side of things. Blah blah blah
Honestly, he's overthinking it.
I am NOT saying DH should kill anyone. Obviously not... at least not with his eyes open. I'm only saying that hypothetically, if one wanted to rise to the very top, one might need to show a little more ambition
AIBU to think DH needs to man up and seize his opportunity?
FWIW, I’ve already laid out the plan, and the metaphorical dagger is just waiting to be used.

This would have the opposite effect on me, I’d put you both down as being utter arse lickers.

I would promote someone who is good at their job and doesn’t get involved in point scoring.

We also do not live in the 1920s, or a mad men type drama

You’d probably have someone else in mind to become CEO after you based on pure nepotism. This is exactly why OP’s DH has to act.

Cartouche · Today 12:54

cardibach · Today 12:41

You could try to remove the obstacle yourself, OP. Or did you try but he resembled your father too much as he slept?

She offs the pages, though, doesn't she?

One of my neighbours played Duncan in a local production last year. If I were in the garden, I would hear him on the other side of the hedge proclaiming 'This castle hath a pleasant seat!' and 'See, see our honoured hostess!'

You have too much time on your hands, due to having no children. Have you considered IVF? Or Eye of Newt?

Someone has almost certainly done a production where the witches appear in white labcoats waving test tubes and taunting the Macbeths implicitly with the children they will never have...

(I did see a not very good RSC one with Niamh Cusack and Christopher Ecclestone where the witches were little girls playing with baby dolls...)

You sound horrible or unhinged

Of course she is, she asked to be.

AgnesX · Today 12:57

FCCRULES · Today 12:51

Of course she shouldn’t! He’ll stay middle management forever unless OP gives him a good talking to. The final decision, however, will of course be DH’s.

There's nothing like an interfering partner who's a complete pain in the ass, especially in the office. So she thinks her DH is the best thing since sliced bread, which has fa to do with his actual capabilities.

Is this guy such a doormat or so useless that he needs someone else to manage his work life.

Did the damn thing get out again!

I don't think it ever did, actually.

Dumbledora8 · Today 13:00

You sound utterly insufferable

RSC is/was amazing. I've seen Alan Rickman, Jerome out of Robson and Jerome, "Mr Johnson" from Fawlty Towers, David Suchet.

Had no clue who they were at the time except Jerome but reading the programs later....

Might be time to get your tucks in a row, OP.

or Pucks, if you need a complete change of scene.

Perhaps he just has more of a conscience than OP? But I’m sure as soon as he tastes power he won’t worry about that any more.

I think you’re being harsh calling OP’s DH a doormat just because he’s full of the milk of human kindness. And of course she knows his capabilities - if only he will make a move.

Sounds either like a 70s sitcom or Macbeth!

Well, he's clearly incredibly good at his actual job, and played a blinder in the battle at the start, when he unseamed whichever baddie it was from the nave to the chops and stuck his head on the battlements....? But too full of the milk of human kindness when it comes to regicide...

I think she fears his nature is too full of the milk of human kindness to take the easiest route to power.

Yeah, he probably has the imagination and the foresight to appreciate the magnitude of what needs to be done and the phsycological impact it will have. The OP probably less so, she's completely unprepared for the cost of what they're planning. Or something...

Got the number for the Samaritans?

A MacBeth/Dream mashup is something I'd like to see. Lady M clearly needed more donkeys in her life.

I fear that will not be adequate.

I'm pretty appalled at this. It's his career, his life. He's doing well for the family now, and this may be as far as he wishes to take it. It's not for you to demand he goes ever further just so you can bask in his glory. It is one thing to be happy for your spouse's successes, but quite another to think it reflects on you. It does not reflect on you. He is employed in this job, not you. And he's already pulling his weight.
And by the way, inviting the boss round for dinner is utterly creepy and in my long career I've never heard of anything so sycophantic.

Obviously not a long career in the theatre.
