£60 for a Nando’s takeaway for 4!

Really tired tonight and no energy to cook. So we decided on Nando’s. 2 adult and 2 kids meals for around £60 with delivery. It’s shocking, for lukewarm underwhelming crap. When did prices get so high! I decided to cook in the end after all.I don’t get how all these delivery drivers are so busy when prices are like this.

The only thing that’s cheeky about Nando’s these days is the prices. I’m with you, OP.

That made me laugh, thank you!

It's certainly pricier than it used to be, but given how the cost of fuel and food has rocketed over the last couple of years, it's not that surprising.

The surprising thing in your post is why you'd want to pay any money at all on food that you consider to be lukewarm underwhelming crap. Surely a quarter of the price would be too much for something that you consider to be crap?

hattie43 · Today 18:48

I’m not surprised tbh I paid £17 for fish n chips for one . Takeaways are poor quality and uber expensive now .

TRS20 · Today 18:49

I think £15 a head including delivery isn’t that bad!

MandemChickenShop · Today 18:50

indeed, that's how much it costs and it's shite.

I agree cost of living crisis? deliverpoo and Uber sheats say otherwise

ilovepixie · Today 18:51

McDonald’s has got awful expensive too and it’s shite. I’d rather get a Chinese or Indian for basically the same price.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · Today 18:52

Nando’s is incredibly expensive.

Takeaways seem to cost a fortune these days.

theneighbourgotmycake · Today 18:52

£15 per person including delivery? It's not outrageous, what do you expect to pay?

Nandos being crap is another issue, you are the one who order from them

ChefsKisser · Today 18:54

It’s the quality in the UK that’s so bad too. Tiny portions greasy and cooked badly. Other places the takeaways are piping hot and tasty so at least they’re worth the price!

that's what I thought too. Nando's is an affordable chain, but it's never been super cheap. I don't think there's much difference in take-away price vs eating in, perhaps just the VAT difference.

Ditto. We couldn’t feed the four of us for £60 on takeaway, although DS1 is a teenager so eats adult sized amounts which maybe your DC don’t yet. And we don’t want food that come in a plastic box on the back of the motorbike. If we want a quick dinner at home we’d rather have toasties or omelettes or bung a supermarket pizza in the oven. Save the money for eating out and enjoy the food hot!

hotmumshit · Today 18:59

That even sounds cheap, for 4 people! Nandos for one is about £20! Getting a delivery is a scam, takeaway delivery is over for me

Its all shite isnt it

TheChosenTwo · Today 18:59

£15 a head sounds like an utter bargain to me but I actively avoid nandos and would never order it or go in there!
but £15 a person for your food to be cooked and delivered with only plates needing to be put in the dishwasher so no mess - sounds pretty good value to me. Crap that it wasn’t hot though, it’s pot luck whether your food will be hot with a takeaway.

DedododoDedadada · Today 19:01

I think all take aways are expensive now. I think it started in covid when restaurant that normally didn't deliver started delivering and then cost of living has gone up so much as well s since. I just can't justify it very often anymore particularly when I'm often disappointed with what i get.

Inthejunglethemightyjunglee · Today 19:09

It’s definitely gotten more expensive. I used to order it on my lunch break at work when I was a student (!) after payday as a treat. I still have my old emails and I order the same thing so was shocked when I saw how much the price had increased.

However I don’t think you’re doing too bad at £60 for four with delivery. Last time we went in it cost £45 for two of us and that was just two basic meals with two sides, a dip and a drink each.

Gingerkittykat · Today 19:10

I've just looked on the site and you can get a whole chicken with 4 medium sides for £30.

I've never been a fan of Nandos; I've always thought it was overrated and expensive for what it is.

Takeaways are expensive these days.

Favouritefruits · Today 19:14

I used to never buy takeaway pizza from Dominos as it was so expensive now it’s the cheapest of the lot! Large pizza collection £9,99, it’s the only takeaway four of us can eat for under £20! I had a Nando’s once and it was horrible no way would I pay £60!

Pizza is a good one. We’ve had quite a lot of pizza lately so didn’t fancy it. It’s the only affordable one left though!

I don't think £15 is bad for a meal to be cooked and delivered

Beshtiismybestie · Today 19:34

I like a Nandos but its way too pricey for what it is!

However we had a stonking takeaway Indian delivered on Sat night, reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. We don't usually have takeaways due to the cost but this might change now!

Yetone · Today 19:45

I really don’t like takeaways. They are always cold and greasy. I just don’t understand why people buy them. Just put a ready meal in the microwave. The only time we have a takeaway is when the family turn up unexpected and I throw them the local Indian restaurant menu. They don’t deliver but someone offers to collect it.

Annoyedbyhusband · Today 19:47

Nando’s is essentially a piece of chicken and some rice or chips. We do home made Nando’s, just buy a chicken and a bag of chips and the microwave rice and a coleslaw.
we do have a Nando’s out occasionally as it’s a good alternative if you’re out for the day and don’t want a full restaurant and don’t want fast food.
but I would never order it delivery as it’s just basically the same as oven baked chicken with a spicey sauce and chips. Which you can do for hardly any money.
we do order Indian and Chinese takeaways though as there is a lot more variety and things that will take hours to cook at home.
