Who loves diamonds!!

Honestly I love them. They are SO beautiful.

My favourite type of diamond is a firey one.

My own is titchy. 0.2 carats. But my god it’s a firecracker. A sparky little rainbow on my finger 🧨

Besides my own children.. I do think good diamonds are the most beautiful thing on earth.

I love looking at the coloured diamonds on the Leibish website, it’s amazing but some of the prices are 😱

Love diamonds and marvel at how carbon can turn into something so beautiful deep in the mantle of our planet . I also love other gemstones but definitely diamonds are unique and I wish it wasn’t so commercialized and corrupt.

Do lab diamonds have inclusions and the full array of colour? Older vintage diamonds are not all D colour and flawless. I’d argue there’s character in older diamonds and there’s certainly no evidence price is coming down on good vintage and antique pieces. Their finite availability and quality of craftsmanship and design keeps prices high. Just look at any auction of Cartier vintage jewellery and you will see sky high prices. There’s demand for the real thing. A lab diamond is a copy and cannot be the same.

Interesting point! If most lab created diamonds are made in whiter than white without any inclusions, then that’s maybe why larger ones can look so fake?

I bought and sold vintage and antique jewellery for a long time, so I’ve got all sorts of stones in my personal collection; Bohemian garnets the colour of black cherry juice, opals that look like someone put a rainbow in a blender, emeralds the colour of a new spring leaf, old blue moonstones with a sheen that almost hovers in the air above them, and yes, diamonds. Even some odd stuff like vintage synthetic colour change sapphires that go from blue to purple in different lights. I love them all.
There are some rare and strange stones I’d like to own, such as a high grade Australian lattice sunstone, a watermelon tourmaline, and a green sphene.

I see a couple of people here have said they’ve got tanzanite set in rings. Word of warning- it’s a fairly soft stone, and not really suitable for daily wear as it chips and scratches quite easily.

I'd like some ametrine and alexandrite in my collection.
A good paraiba tourmaline or padparadscha sapphire would be lovely too.

The pink australian diamonds upthread are appealing.

Natural diamonds generally have flaws and inclusions which can be seen under magnification. In a poor quality diamond you can see them with the naked eye.

Absence does not mean a stone is fake but if you can see imperfections under a loupe or microscope then it's almost certainly a natural stone.

Coloured (fancy) synthetics are also made.

Diamond from Gladiators is pretty cool.

Despite having major interest in jewellery, I only recently became aware of ‘fancy white’ diamonds, they have a strange ethereal mistyness and high fluorescence so they have a blueish tinge in daylight. They are recognised as a fancy by the GIA. They’re very rare and come from really old and deep volcanic cores.

Wow well you won’t fucking believe this but the diamond I have admiring so much recently is now bloody lost!

Slipped off my finger around 2 hours ago; somewhere between a bath, tidy of upstairs, shaking recycling basket out and putting general waste in the bin, doing some dishes, sorting washing, putting a load on and moving a load to the tumble.

FML! Cannot find it anywhere. It’s fucking gone gone

Oh no! I hope you find it. I lost a 0.3 diamond from my late gran's engagement ring. DH noticed it was missing when I can home from the gym one night. Searched every inch of my walk from car to sofa. Went back to the gym when it opened the next morning. Found the diamond about 5cm from the plug hole - the first person to have had a shower would have washed it away. Wish you luck in finding your fiery diamond

Recycling big bin emptied, tumble dryer and washing machine half dismantled.

DP now knocking a hole in the ceiling to get to the bath trap 😭

If not, wait until it gets dark tonight and retrace your steps with a torch, it will hopefully reflect off the diamond and you will find it 🤞🏻

I have spent hours with my head in a washing machine and have learnt a lot about the inner workings of washing machines.

I don’t think it’s in there though. Spent many hours looking.

Decided to stop demolishing the ceiling after DP remembered he has a drain cam. We can’t see it so going back to that as a last resort.

Could still be outside in the bins/ gravel. I keep looking and if so hopefully I find it before a magpie/ lucky delivery man.

Could be down a drain and in the pipe work.

Or attached to a kids piece of clothing which they then trundle to school.

Honestly I feel like I am never going to get it back at this point. Devastated.

I have loads of diamonds and I love them.

I know that lab grown have the same qualities etc but I can spot a lab grown at a hundred paces, especially if it’s one of those massive ones.

No inner rainbow or fire.
Just a pretty piece of cut glass.
For the money, I’d rather have a much smaller real diamond.

Do not put any rubbish or recycling to be collected until it turns up.

Yeah I am 100% sure of the latter even though DP is trying to get me to second guess myself.

I only take it off for diy - which I have been doing a lot of lately. But I didn’t do any that evening. And I thankfully have a picture of me wearing it at 6pm dinner. So know it’s here… or in the water sewer system 😭
