AIBU to find the GOV.UK One Login process confusing?

Has anyone else found the GOV.UK one login identity verification process for small business hard?
I swear it is the most labyrinthine process ive come across. I managed to do it earlier this year for my husband, but I now have to do it, and I've forgotten how difficult it is! Swearing 🤬

Yup it's infuriating.

My husband found it difficult at first when he had to renew his driving licence. He managed it eventually and found it easier on his phone than the laptop for some reason.

Glad it's not just me! I am generally ok ish with tech things but this one is baffling, so many windows pop up, the QR code is the wrong one (where is the right one?) I've tried on phone and laptop and am so confused I've got to leave and come back otherwise I may throw it all out the window!

Don't ever accidentally lock yourself out! You have to call them to reset all your security questions and password but they ask you safety questions similar to ones your bank does. I was sweating so much by the time I fi ished the call, it was ao stressful.

It's HORRENDOUS!

Yes. I did it last year. I did the first section and closed the browser to go onto the second part.

in the second section, it started, “leaving the first browsing session open, continue with your biometric identification recordings.”

I had to wait for ages to get hold of a help desk person, who unlocked the first section and explained how to proceed.

I wish they’d road-test these new systems on people who haven’t used them BEFORE they launch them.

You are not alone! It is total shite! So so bad. I found HMRC's IT helpdesk vaguely helpful eventually, in that they undid whatever the glitch in the system was that told me that I both didn't exist, but also had to use the details linked to my account, which did exist, even though I didn't.

.....and I thought I was alone with my problems!

Anything connected to the government website is complicated.
I'm certainly not thick but can't get my head around how difficult they make things.

I am attempting it again at the weekend.

I thought the accountant offering to do it for me was a waste of money but honestly not sure now, it's driving me insane.
