AIBU to take a saw to the bird table?

I live in a faily modern terraced house and in order to access the rear gardens there is a pathway with gates off to the left and right (a write of access in the deeds). The beginning of the path is adjacent to the drive way of the first house.

I just went to cut my grass and when trying to get my lawn mower through discovered that

a) the twat in house 1 has parked his car half on his drive and the rest blocking the access path
b) placed a massive great bird table in the access path immediately beyond his gate so nobody can progress past his house.

AIBU to take a saw to this bird table and/or dismantle it and throw it over his fence?

I am hoping somebody is planning to do work in their gardens over the weekend involving ladders and new fence panels etc and that his car will get it's entire side wiped out.

Well, you could.🤣
Or maybe you could just go round and ask him to unblock the right.of way?

Parking thread = diagram. Them's the rules.

Can you put the bird table down upside down?

Cora0 · 11/09/2026 16:14

I’d probably just flip it on its side and put it against the fence or something. Or if I was feeling petty I’d drag it out and put it next to his car on the empty half of his drive.

As tempting as it is to hack it to pieces and throw it over the fence it might provoke him to even greater feats of twattery. 😂

MagpiePi · 11/09/2026 16:28

I’m posting this under protest as there is no diagram, 🤬 but I’d start off with a friendly ‘not sure if you realised your bird table is blocking my access, and I struggled to get my lawnmower past your car as you’ve parked it on the shared access path, I’d hate for it to get scratched.’ If he doesn’t move them both then you could lean the bird table up against his car, (because you wouldn’t want to go onto his property, would you?)

Hmmm... I like your rational thinking but I still prefer my rage! 😂

Here is the diagram - hopefully it will upload successfully.

Or just remove it in the night

I can’t see it. Does it say the picture is pending approval?

Yes, it is still pending approval at the moment

Ready with the popcorn 🍿 for the diagram to be approved. I love a good parking thread. I confronted my neighbour over poor parking this morning- leaving me blocked in.

There we go - it is showing as approved now on my PC

In your shoes I'd speak to your other neighbours first as you're all affected. Then speak to the problem-causer.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · 11/09/2026 17:59

Firstly, top notch diagram, well done.
Secondly, absolutely a twat. You need to go and politely point out they seem to be blocking the shared access with ahead tilt as if they are clearly stupid.

Hotandpointy · 11/09/2026 18:04

Great diagram!

I’d try to give him a chance to shift it before getting all the neighbours together tbh.
Maybe try something like, “Sorry to bother you but your car seems to be blocking access and also, someone has left a birdbath right in the middle of the lane, how weird! Wonder if it’s meant for the tip?”

I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt until the end of the weekend.

If, however, he thinks this is going to be the new norm because he doesn't like people walking past his drive and house to do maintainence work on the rear of their properties that is not going to happen.

I plan to move the bird table down to the very end of the access path (past the gate of the 4th (top) house) and I will be getting past his car no matter how tight he tries to make the gap.

Just to be clear - this is not one of those historical terrace house arrangements where people walk through each others gardens. This is a marked and paved path with fence panels/gates on either side. It is in the deeds to all of the houses.

Can you ask them directly?

Excellent diagram.

FairyBatman · 11/09/2026 19:18

Agree - kudos on he diagram and yes he’s being a nob, but it’s also possible he needs the car out of the way of his door and is just being thoughtless…I’d give it a day.

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/09/2026 19:22

Do you have parking/garages at the end of the path? Excellent drawing!

Thanks!

It is a dead end after the top house on the right. Beyond that is fenced off council land with trees and bushes. The access path is about a metre wide and paved.

I can see exactly what he is doing (I don't think it is a mistake), which is why I am so annoyed about it. I was a bit suspicious when I saw the way he had parked the car, but completely blocking the access path after his gate with this massive bird table has confirmed it for me.

I don't know how long it has been there either. I haven't needed to cut the grass due to the extreme hot weather for ages.

He's got plenty of garden by the looks of things to put his bird table .

My preferred punishment for a Parking CF is a handful of bird seed deftly sprinkled so they shit on the windscreen.
( I parked under some trees at my DParents house as it was "spare space" on the road . My car looked like Mr Bleedin' Blobby after two days !)

You can blame the bird feeder table "I saw some starlings crowding round it Barry , maybe some put food there ?"
It is a relentless never ending task and you need to remove it otherwise it bloclks your clearview and damages paintwork
