To find YouTube unwatchable now?

I mainly watch YouTube while eating lunch, so usually 10-30 min videos. I’ve just sat through 11 adverts in a 20-minute video and felt so annoyed by the end. The person kept being cut off in the middle of sentences or when they were just about to show something, all so I could watch the same bloody adverts on repeat! Now there’s also a little ad box on the screen which cuts off any text in the corner.

The other evening I sat down to watch a nice relaxing musical on YouTube. Same thing with adverts literally every 5 minutes, some you have to skip or they’ll keep playing forever. By the end of the 90 minutes I felt how a toddler must feel when you turn off their favourite show! It’s surprisingly infuriating!

I know it’s to try to make me pay £10+ a month to remove the ads, but the tactic is so annoying I don’t want to reward them by giving them my money. Especially when I’m only watching for 20 mins a day (but half of that is stupid ads for handbags). I wouldn’t mind sitting through extra ads at the beginning or end if I was allowed to watch the actual video!

Just wanted to rant and wondering if it’s actually only me that’s getting annoyed

I watch loads of History Hit programmes, Pilates videos, the Met Office in-depth programmes about the weather, some lifestyle people, some 'clean with me' channels (to give me the oomph to do my housework), Tom Maclaw's documentaries, Jago Hazzard talking about railway history, This Much is True Crime...

It's almost easier to say what I don't watch!

I also refuse to pay for premium, but the suggested browsers don't work on a firestick, which is how I'm able to access youtube, Netflix etc on my tv at home. Unless there's a way I've not found on Google?

Brave was also the only browser that stopped that stupid and blocker message from coming up on Mumsnet for me even when I unblocked ads.

Mumsnet seems to have gotten rid of it now though at least, I'm convinced the reason it's so much quieter here these days is down to that adblocker farce.

This is why I pay £10.99 a month for premium, far cheaper than Sky and zero ads whereas Sky etc has ads on all but BBC channels!

But it’s far cheaper than any subscription service and even if you pay £100+ per month for Sky/Virgin you still get bloody ads with all except BBC channels! With Premium, you get zero ads, free unlimited music streaming on YouTube music (works exactly the same as Spotify) AND you get a skip button for when creators are doing their own sponsored ads.

I’ve just downloaded Brave and will be using it for YouTube and mumsnet.
I was on DuckDuckGo for MN and it would never go to bookmarks and it jumped to the bottom of the page if I posted. Brave isn’t doing those.

I pay for premium and use free sponsor block. It cuts out all the sponsership stuff automatically.

I don't know why you're against paying for no ads if you don't like them.

I have an AdBlocker on my laptop.

Unfortunately, I can't find one for my phone that doesn't drain the battery, so I have a YouTube subscription. It's handy in that I don't get blasted with loud, repetitive adverts every three or four minutes when I'm milking cows, so I just listen to songs that I like instead!
