My initials are BJT but honestly it wasn't a problem. Still isn't in my 50's. Maybe because people don't use middle names much. If it were B with surname J, perhaps then I would've copped it!

I always associate BJ with the character from M.A.S.H rather than anything else in fact it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this thread not sure if that makes me naive or just old

I’ve heard someone make a joke about it when BJ was in someone’s postcode. Definitely don’t give someone those initials. Standard rule to not give stupid initials.

Little Betty will be mostly known as Betty, especially in primary years children will not associate the last name and initials with a blow job.
In secondary teens can be mean but they can choose a wide number of things to be mean about.
By post secondary and work life it’s unlikely to be an issue.

Maybe times have changed but my awful ex husband had these initials and nobody ever commented.
Not something I ever thought of but I suppose it depends on your life experience, social circle and cultural references.
I knew him from childhood and nobody at school, college or university ever mentioned such an issue.

I think that unless the family and people around her call her "BJ" she'll be fine. If you name her "Brianna Jane" or whatever, and call her by those names or a variation of them, it'll be okay. But the safest thing to do, is to name her "J B" then it has little or no risk of becoming a "thing".

We had the initals on sports kit too but the kid with initials WC got teased more than the kid with initials BJ

I didn’t grow up in the UK, and at the schools I grew up in my last and middle initials were swapped so it was AP(E). No one ever commented.
My friend has a daughter with the name Billie-Jo and nicknamed BJ, again, no comments. That baby is now 12 and as far as I’m aware, no issues with her name, she attends the secondary my son does and everyone just calls her BJ. A couple of lads sniggered upon first hearing it, but the teachers use it too and I guess after you hear it often enough it looses its power?
