Gnocchi bake. Gnocchi, pepper, olive oil, tomatoes.

Out of oven 8pm. Realised at 6.30am I hadn’t put in fridge, so put it back then.

AIBU to heat it up for dinner tonight?

YABU - it’s full of toxins and you’re going to thrown your guts up

YANBU - don’t waste that delicious dinner. Heat it up and enjoy

It's been warm overnight. It's not worth the risk of getting food poisoning. It's grim.

Askandyforcompo · 09/09/2026 11:50

I would eat it yes. There's no meat or cheese or rice in it.

tealandteal · 09/09/2026 11:51

I would, as long as it’s heated thoroughly.

Shmee1988 · 09/09/2026 11:52

I would eat it! I would be tempted to microwave it and then put in oven, just incase

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 09/09/2026 11:52

It would depend entirely how hungry I was.

This!!

BrilliantBetty · 09/09/2026 11:53

I’m sure it won’t make you sick. What in that would do it? Is gnocchi potato, I can’t remember.

If you don’t fancy it any more because it’s been left out then that’s absolutely fair. But it would be fine I think.

Somnambule · 09/09/2026 11:53

I would eat it, yes.

Food poisoning from what exactly? There’s no meat, cheese or rice in the dish.

Edit: I’m usually quite strict on things like this but I would eat this no problem.

aliasfrog · 09/09/2026 11:55

No i wouldnt. Potato and pasta can cause food poisoning as they have a lot of moisture in them. Gnocchi is cheap enough too.

MelonSorbet · 09/09/2026 11:56

It'll be fine. I would eat it.

TotaleclipseinFrance · 09/09/2026 11:58

I'd eat. The only things I'm really cautious about are things that contain rice or fish.
In fact I often leave casseroles to cool overnight before freezing.

Obviously heat the hell out of it.

Megifer · 09/09/2026 11:59

Im pretty cavalier with stuff like this but I wouldn't, unless it eas delicious and having the shits for a few days wasnt going to be a huge problem (not being sarcastic there, that has often been my decider - is it that delicious to chance it? And if i I am really ill, will plans be ruined? If no I might chance it depending on what it is.)

Have to say sweaty little balls of gnocchi sat out all night getting sweatier and more moist would prob be a no based on not being delicious enough to chance it, on balance.

EmailsaysOOO · 09/09/2026 12:00

If you're not weak or pregnant, I think it will be fine. If it had been meat, I'd say no. I'd put it in the fridge and then super blast it at 190 or 200 or more.

FckThisShit · 09/09/2026 12:01

I'd eat it but make sure it's piping hot when you heat it up

User1606042727 · 09/09/2026 12:04

It will be absolutely fine. Just make sure that it is piping hot.

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 09/09/2026 12:06

I would absolutely eat it.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 09/09/2026 12:06

veggie gnocchi? Absolutely yes

They're not the only ingredients that can cause food poisoning. Plus if its a ready meal then it'll have preservatives in that deteriorate at room temperature. That's why they're stored on fridges. 😃

thoughtitwasright · 09/09/2026 12:08

No I wouldn't. Isn't there some kind of bacteria in pasta/rice etc that isn't destroyed by cooking? And @Megifer description of the sweaty gnocchi sounds accurate to me

Feejoah · 09/09/2026 12:10

You can get food poisoning from anything. Bacteria love a slow cool down and a night spent in a warm kitchen.

HumbleStumble · 09/09/2026 12:15

I would slowly heat it to a luke warm temp and then let it cool again to grow the bacteria more efficiently

4ly5ha · 09/09/2026 13:40

I do this all the time. With literally everything I cook. Hot food can’t go in the fridge anyway. Needs to cool down, and at that point I’m often zzz anyway. Rice pasta etc gets tidied in the morning all the time. I wouldn’t feed it to my baby but I have no qualms about myself or hubby. No never got sick either.

HussleMe · 09/09/2026 13:43

God yeah. I make chicken soup on a Sunday and leave it on the stove until it runs out.

DP (chef) gets the ick but it’s never killed me yet 🤣

Goldensprat · 09/09/2026 13:49

I'd do it and I'd also do it if it contained meat or cheese or basically anything as long as the texture hadn't been ruined somehow.

I've never had food poisoning so I'm probably overly cavalier. But really I don't think the risk of food poisoning is ever that high if the food smells normal and has been properly heated. It seems fairly random as to when people get it.
