AIBU to feel guilty about coping poorly with pregnancy sickness?

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant, and have a 2 year old. I have been floored with sickness and nausea for about 2 weeks now.

I feel so guilty, I’m finding leaving the house really hard, so we’ve been staying in most days, tv has been on a lot more than usual, meals have been basic as cooking is just a trigger for me, and I’ll be honest I’ve spent most of my time horizontal.

I feel guilty for my toddler, as I’m also just feeling very hormonal, fed up and being snappy with her. I’m not usually like this and it’s eating me up. I didn’t have this in my previous pregnancy, so I’m just struggling to adapt to it. Nothing I do even slightly relieves the nausea.

I am not sure what the point of this post actually is, but I’m just feeling like the worst mum ever and I am constantly in tears because I feel like I’m failing her right now. I am trying to remind myself this is just a short phase but it is hard. Any tips to get through this period would be greatly appreciated.x

be kind to yourself. Pregnancy can be rough. If there’s more tv and screens than usual then that’s ok, do what you have to do to get through. Have you contacted your GP ?

Do not beat yourself up and do not suffer in silence. Please talk to your GP asap, they can help! It’s such a short period in your toddlers life, a few weeks of snuggles on the sofa and beige dinner will do them no harm against the lifetime with a new sibling ❤️

Sorry to hear this @at1908 . Get rid of the guilt.Part of your short temper is likely due to the guilt, so eliminate that part. You have my permission to lie on the sofa.

Can you mix it up a bit and do some movie/YouTube sing alongs with your DD from the sofa to get a bit of dancing (not you) and language skills in for DD if that would make you feel a bit better?

Go to the GP for the nausea, enlist some family help or paid childcare if you are able.
