AIBU to contact a factory about alcoholic drink cans in the hedge?

I belong to a litter picking group. There is a hedge in front of a factory that is full of alcoholic drink cans, The cans could only come from the staff working in the factory on their breaks. There are no other sources of where these cans could have come from.

Certainly employers don't accept drinking whilst on shift etc. Also the shifts are not suitable for PT.

Should I contact them?

Surely you're not advocating drinking alcohol and then operating machinery? Even a boring job should be done sober.

Factory workers do not necessarily operate machinery. When I was a packer in a factory, everyone went next door to the pub at lunchtime, including the boss.

I would be willing to put money on it being teenagers/ young adults finding a quiet little spot away from people, rather than it being factory workers.

But sure, be a busybody and email the factory. Sure it will give them a laugh.

Is the hedge on a land that belongs to the factory?
If it is, then you should have led with a simple reminder that it is the responsibility of the business to keep their land tidy and clear of rubbish.
Accusations of the workers drinking detracts from the actual problem that you are trying to solve. You've raised a health&safety compliance issue which complicates the matter unnecessarily.
