To not want to text all evening when myself and partner have our day apart?

We see each other every other day which we're both happy with but I do really appreciate the space between our evenings together. It's just to get an idea of people's preferences really. I'm happy with a few texts an evening to keep up the contact and he seems happy with this but at the same time he will reply back to mine instantly. AIBU to want a bit of quiet?

Gives you a chance to miss each other. (and do things without them).

Of course YANBU but you can tell him this or go longer between replies.

Mine still does this after 16 years, it drives me insane. Then again, I'd complain if he didn't message at all, so... 🤣

Why was the reply deleted for asking how long I'd been with him? Since when was that a Mumsnet offence? 🤣

I reply when I want too not the other way around and don't expect my husband to reply instantly either

Maybe don't text him if you don't want him to reply to you?

I'm confused, if you dont want texts, then dont text him? If he texts, dont reply until later.

Not unreasonable. My husband works away, we have a quick call to catch up and say goodnight - 5 mins max. I don’t like constantly texting about mundane stuff and if there’s something to actually talk about I prefer a call.

I’m the same. I’m too busy to be texting all the time. A quick call in the evening is enough. Just because we can be in constant contact, doesn’t mean we have to be.
