To ask if I’ve left enough time to get out of Stansted?!

I’m flying into Stansted with Ryanair on Monday. My flight is due to land at 8:35, and I’ve booked the 10:28 Stansted express, with onward travel to Paddington and then home.

I’m starting to worry now that I’ve not left myself enough time!!!

Should be fine but if the flight is delayed you may be in trouble. Far easier to pay the extra for a flexible ticket

You should be fine. Queues for passport control normally OK. The train station is out of the front door and down the ramp, not far at all. 2 hours is plenty.

Last time I flew into Stansted, I was on the Stansted Express within 20 minutes of arriving at the gate. I only had hand luggage but it was a brisk walk through the airport.

The flexible ticket was three times the price!

I was at Stansted last month. It was earlier in the morning but picked up my luggage etc and was on the Stansted Express within 35 minutes. And that included buying a ticket and helping another passenger!

Completely depends if your flight lands on time. If it does, plenty of time. If it doesn’t then it’s anyone’s guess

I thought the Stansted express tickets were always flexible allowing any time on the day of travel even if you put an expected time in when booking. Do the terms say 10:28 only? Or maybe off peak only?

If your flight arrives on time you’ll be fine, in fact you might have the opposite problem of having to hang around Stansted arrivals for an hour!

I have never needed 2 hours to get to the Stansted express. I haven't been delayed though.

I don't use Stansted but 2 hours sounds loads, I always seem to be out of a UK airport in under an hour. But any time I've looked at booked tickets transferring out of airports, there's always been some flexibility because they know it's hard to predict how long it will take to get out of the airport, plus the chance of delays on top. What do the T&Cs of your ticket(s) say? Or is the problem that part of the journey is a normal train, rather than one associated with the airport?

I think the Stansted and potentially even Elizabeth line portions of the ticket may be flexible, but perhaps my train home is the advance single bit?

Why pre-book the ticket? You can just tap in and out.

If you have a UK passport and no checked luggage, you will be waiting around for that train for ages.

I needed a train ticket home too and this was the easiest way to do it.

I think it's her onward ticket home from Paddington that's the issue and if not pre-booked it's very expensive.
