Chris Langham, comedy actor and writer was convicted and imprisoned for downloading images of CSA.
A telegraph obituary has come up on my news feed. It’s surprisingly appreciative and respectful, and says (paraphrasing) that his career was “derailed by a conviction for downloading indecent images”. As if this was something that unfortunately happened to him, like an accident, rather than a horrifically obscene thing he CHOSE to do.
I see there is a similar Times obit.

I’m quite surprised by this. Will they do similar for Gary Glitter? Huw Edwards?

I can understand if he’d been super famous that his death (and life) would have been reported and written about whatever, but a no longer in the public eye disgraced performer who died months ago? Very odd.

Referring to viewing CSA or, Gill's case, raping his daughters as someone's 'sex life' is beyond grim.

The article I read said he was convicted of downloading level 5 pornography. I don’t care how “funny” he was. It’s appalling.

How utterly depressing.

I found some of the comments on the Times obituary quite depressing. People talking about the awful effect the conviction had on his life. The effects on the lives of the children who were sexually abused to make images for adult paedophiles like him to enjoy were not considered important.
