Netflix now showing you tube shit, can you help me with shows to ‘ban’?

I’m pretty good with all of the parental controls but mine have just progressed from Netflix age 6 rating so now they want age 12 rating. Of course weird murder documentaries are now watchable. It’s really annoying to have to go in and hide ‘making a murderer’, for example. But now I have discovered that stupid Netflix has bought the rights to horrendous YouTube shows that I’ve spent so long avoiding, such as ‘Salish and Jordan’.

I thought I could call upon the Mumsnet Hive-mind to name shows they think are shite or scary that I can add to the excluded title list, a painfully manual process. For instance ‘Creeped out’ scared one of mine because the title picture was a scary doll!

It’s really difficult because they’re too old for age 6 yet too young for SOME age 12s….

Following as it’s absolute rubbish! A list would be great though it’s some consuming to go on and remove all. Will be worth it.

Exactly! If it helps, I also banned iCarly and Fuller House and other sassy, rude tween shows from the early aughts! Anything by Dan Schneider!

I’ve told my kids that they can’t watch anything just filmed in people’s houses, as like you say, it’s just YouTube slop that’s now been given episode status on Prime and Netflix.

I didn’t even know you could block singular programmes so will give this a go. Also up for any suggestions of crap to block!

Following for tips too! My kids are 6 and 9 and I recently downgraded them from 10+ to 7+. I keep track of what they're watching when they're at home, but at MIL's, she just lets them get on with it without any oversight whatsoever 🙄the🙄 It's the source of many a disagreement!

I don't actually mind icarly and Sam and Kat!

I also need to have a proper look. My eldest is 11 and I removed that terrible Jordan matter from youtube when she had a phone and was allowed to watch youtube a bit more independently. I only saw a few minutes to know that was instantly getting blocked! I explained that he is really creepy and it appears very much like he is exploiting his daughter. Luckily she agreed with me!

Hi, did you have any luck in assembling a full list? I'd never heard of Salish & Jordan Matter but watched 30 seconds with my kids today and it was enough for a hard no. I don't want YouTube crap being made available for them through Netflix, so peed off about this!

I've blocked the shows mentioned on this thread, are there others to be aware of?

We just don’t have Netflix. We have a box of dvds and box sets.
