To wonder if there's anywhere I can get gas and air from (Entonox)?

I have a chronic pain condition and go regularly for procedures at hospital which they administer gas and air for pain prevention and it's bloody brilliant! I like that the pain disappears and the hazy feeling it gives me. I usually end up laughing and talking rubbish 😂I've had daily pain for twenty years now due to endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions. It's intense and nothing touches the pain. It's horrible. I'm desperate to get hold of Entonox for home use but it's obviously only available in medical settings for good reason. Can I get hold of any from abroad or somewhere? I'm desperate for the only thing that makes me feel better!

There are dealer who sell it like other illegal drugs. If you see little silver canisters about 3 inches high on the ground in parks, that is left by kids taking nitrous oxide.

Its a prescription only controlled product as far as I know. You'll have to by some cylinders and make balloons like a raver OP 😂

It isn't a sensible idea. It is extremely short acting and the effects wear off within a minute or two of stopping using it.
So what would the plan even be, sitting constantly breathing it in, getting addicted to the hazy feeling?

You need a drug dealer. They’ll have a ready supply, but Mumsnet isn’t the place to find them.

Why don't you try medicinal canabis. That's meant to be really good for pain. Can't see why you wouldn't be accepted.

Look out for black balloon pics in sharpie on any street furniture - bus stops, big wheely bins, lampposts etc. That appears to be the indicator round here.

Not legally no. It's highly regulated. I tried once to get it in the hospice I worked at and it was far too difficult even there.

There are many reasons why it is a regulated drug , not least of which is that regular use has some very nasty side effects , including b12 deficiency which causes permanent nerve damage , nerve and spinal damage , psychosis etc etc etc .

Where it is used you have to have scrubbers and air filters to remove it from the surroundings to protect staff from it, It was stopped , for a while, in many maternity units , because there was insufficient protection for staff. The risks have been known about for decades.

Drug regulation is there to protect the public and the ways of circumventing it (eg antibiotics over the internet ) are causing massive health problems .

Have you had a referral to a pain clinic? Chronic pain is very poorly controlled by drugs and other approaches may well be more useful.

It’s not safe to use long term as a pp said it has effects on your vitamin b12 levels which can lead to spinal degeneration. Plus there is a whole list of criteria for using it including a lot of co morbidities. It is a procedural drug only for good reason.

OP, nitrous oxide is really dangerous stuff in the wrong hands. That's why it can only be administered by trained professionals in medical settings.

As a chronic pain sufferer myself I totally understand why you want to do this, but I'm really hoping you'll think again.
