Sorry, not AIBU but I was unsure where to put it and wanted replies! I’m 43 and I think peri menopause has begun 😱 my period has started being 4-5 days early and occasionally late and last month it was a whole 10 days late! It’s been pretty regular all my life. For the past year I’ve also been getting night sweats starting about a week before my period every night till the end of my period, but now I’m getting them inbetween too and in the last few days I think I’m getting hot flashes. I feel boiling hot and start sweating but it can last for 1 or 2 hrs, not the few minutes I thought it was supposed to? I kind of just feel hot all the time. I didn’t think all these symptoms would start so early, my mum didn’t go through the menopause til her early 50s so if this is peri is it going to be like this (and get progressively worse) till the actual menopause starts, potentially when I’m 50?!

Hot flashes and night sweats; palpitations and have lost over half my hair.
The penny only dropped when The Rage set in. God forbid anyone entered the kitchen when I was in there! HRT has helped.

Really stiff feet first thing in the morning! After a few steps they were fine.

Interesting! I've suddenly been experiencing very stiff achillies every morning. I can't walk properly straight away, i have to stretch my calves out first.

I didn't connect this one until I started HRT and my feet were suddenly fine!

Periods have been all over the place for the past six years (I'm 49). I will quite often skip a month and then get two within three weeks.

Headaches before my period starts. Never had these before my forties.

Nobody's mentioned urinary incontinence yet? As soon as I feel the urge I need to run to the toilet, and even then I don't always get there in time. Occasional leakage when I sneeze. I thought I might avoid this by never giving birth, but nope.

My main symptom was urine incontinence. Even was sent to specialist clinic who tried bladder training first. I had to raise hormone change to get right treatment. I'm now in menopause and with meds and local hrt it's controlled. I'm trying patches for other symptoms.

Perimenopause lasts about ten years, so you’re about right to hit the average age menopause. My first sign was periods getting closer together. I can’t take HRT.

I am 40 and I’ve found anxiety creeping in over really innocuous things and for no apparent reason. I’ve always been an anxious person but felt able to pinpoint it to a cause/event/particular worry. Now it’s just there and I don’t know why. Also heightened pain around ovulation and quite severe mood swings in the run up to my period. Periods are still fairly regular but fluctuate between light and very heavy. I definitely feel like something is changing.

I’d always been a great sleeper, could easily get 10 hours or more then when I was 36 bang! Kept waking during the night and unable to get back to sleep! Ended up signed off work for 2 weeks as I got myself in such a state!
As the years went on, brain fog slipped in, memory problems, used to be able to remember all email addresses for invoices off the top of my head and what sessions individual children did after school, now I more often than not need to double check.
Weight increase, sensitive bladder, plantar fasciitis. I wouldn’t say I have hot flashes but I definitely run constantly hotter much to DH delight as we hardly ever need to have the heating on! 🙄 Itchy ears, extra sensitive skin.
Perimenopause is truly the gift that keeps on giving!!
I’m on the mini pill and I’ve read that can help
with some symptoms. I also take evening primrose oil and starflower oil and various other vitamins.
