AIBU in thinking I should end the relationship?

I’ve been talking to a guy for around 5 months, in the last 2 months we’ve argued quite a bit because he doesn’t show me much affection, he says that’s just the way he is, I think he’s an avoidant, he asks for space every time we argue and it’s just a bit too much now, tonight he rejected me sexually and then went upstairs to bed, I don’t get any compliments from him however he has mentioned and fished for compliments for himself in the past. When I mention this being a relationship he says don’t get ahead of yourself.

AIBU in thinking I should end the relationship as I never know where I stand?

Yes, it sounds like it's going nowhere.
You're only 5 months in, and should be in the happy phase.
Sorry to be so blunt, I hope you're ok.

“Talking to” for 5 months?? I am obviously ancient but as you are clearly in a sexual relationship with this person they are merely using you for sex/ego boosts because 5 months is far too long for a casual thing, and far too short to put up with nonsense like sulking.

If he is in your house right now, send him out and say to not come back.

If you are in his house, pack up, walk out and never go back.

What do you mean “you don’t know where you stand in this relationship”? That’s you choosing to identify something that he clearly isn’t being a part of. And he is shouting at you he isn’t in a relationship with you. That’s not a relationship. You’re a shagging appliance. Tonight he didn’t want to switch you on so he didn’t.

Please go away and find some self worth.

Are you living together? 5 months is very quick. He sounds a bit immature, how old are you both?0
