It’s after 11pm. One of the neighbours in my building who has dumped his old car (for about 1 year now) in a parking space directly outside my flat has decided tonight at 22:40 to have 2 guys jump start the car and run it for 40mins. They were initially chatting and whatnot and slamming the doors occasionally then disappeared. They’ve just reappeared and drove the car off. Just as they got in the car the music came blasting out (obviously by accident) and they’ve driven off slowly but sirely. Just as I was pulling the blinds up in a rage to tell them to be quiet in case they wake my 6 year old.

so I guess my point is
is it unreasonably to ask people to be quiet when they’re doing annoying anti social things like this? Or should I just shut up ?
I find it happens in the car park at least once a month. People with no regard for their neighbours. What do you all think?

I would say something. As politely as I could muster, depending on how annoyed I was!

Every Saturday for several weeks 2 ladies plus 1 yappy fucking ddog stopped to chat literally under my bedroom window.

Last Straw Day I shouted to shut that bloody ddog up..
That became Last Day.
And peace came.

You weren’t happy the car was dumped outside your flat for a year and you’re now not happy that it’s been moved either - because they made too much noise doing so.

Yes, it’s unreasonable to tell people to shoosh when they have a job to get done.

It's very unreasonable to tell people to shoosh, but it's absolutely fine to tell them to shush.

Depends. I did similar recently and received what felt like a very serious threat against the lives of me and my kids. Reported to police but now living in anxiety at every little noise. Depends on where you live and whether you are prepared to take the risk, sadly.

Why did this job need to get done at 11pm?
My neighbour was drilling something in the adjacent bedroom last night at 11pm. We have a good relationship and he was quite obviously trying to be very quick but if he carried on for an hour, I'd be going over to have a word.
