AIBU to ask if this balayage quote is reasonable?

What do you pay for a balayage and cut and blow dry? With a senior stylist. It's years since I've had my hair coloured/ bleached and nuts wondered if my quotes are reasonable.

Balayage tends to be expensive. I’m guessing £300-£400 for a senior stylist. I colour my own hair these days, sadly can’t manage to balayage myself.

I pay £150 for full head balayage and cut

It’s been years since I gave that much of a shit 😂 but back then, £250-300. Much more than I’d ever be willing to pay now.

I get balayage and it’s £300. I’ve stopped going to the hairdresser’s and now have my very own grown-out root smudge. I just cannot justify the expense.

This was Saks main website today (though suspect the algorithm knows I’m in the North East 🤔). I was on there looking up cost of a kids hair cut and noticed balayage as pretty much the most expensive single service they offer (other than weaves/extensions type offerings).

This is interesting to read. My hair has a natural balayage and every time I get my hair cut the hairdresser marvels at my hair and says people pay a lot of money to have hair like mine. Now I know exactly how much!

I quite like my hair colour so happy not to have to dye it.

Remember you are paying for a skilled service person to spend a very long time with you. If it were a plumber or an electrician, the labor prices would not be shocking, but society devalues work traditionally done by women.

I mean it takes ages. So when you factor it as an hourly rate with keeping the salon open, VAT, staff wages…. I agree costs are nuts but it’s a viscous circle because running a salon is just so expensive. (And all businesses)
