Why do some drivers get angry when were expecting the vehicle to leave a car park space

Today I went to a retail park. One of the main reasons was to pick up a click n collect from Argos inside Sainsburys. It’s a big n bulky item which I used a trolley to push it to my car.

As I closing the boot, a driver asked me if I was moving on. No I wasn’t as wanted to visit a few other shops in the retail park. The driver shouted at me. It wasn’t like the car park was full. Plenty of spaces. I went to Argos before it could have been busy.

Why do drivers get shouty and angry in this situation

Because many people are thick and can’t cope with feeling stupid so just react.

Some people are just nasty idiots. I always feel awkward if I'm taking something back to or fetching something from the car, but not leaving the space in a FULL car park - as people are so relieved to think they've finally found a space, but then realise they haven't after all; but when there are other spaces available, that's being mad and unpleasant just for the sake of it.

They shout because they want to humiliate you and they have an entitlement expectation!

Does this happen to you often?

28 years of driving and never

Because a very large number of people are thick, entitled, and incapable of responding to even the most minor of setbacks without getting aggressive and shouting abuse. They’re basically children, incapable of controlling their emotions, or acting reasonably or even effectively, in their own interests.

Goodness… you encounter people like this a lot do you?

Not always personally, sometimes I observe it or others tell me about encounters they’ve had. I’m surprised at your apparent scepticism. Society is full of entitled grown-up babies who think stamping their feet is the way to get what they want. Not everyone obviously.

I don't know why but there are definitely more of them. I live somewhere that needs drivers to be considerate and give way a lot if anyone is to get anywhere. Always used to be the odd dickhead who who would cause total gridlock rather than give way for 5 seconds, but now I see it every day. They take that entitled attitude to the car parks. It's like life is a big video game and other people are glitches they can't cope with

Similar thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. First time in 37 years of driving, but people seem to be so bloody impatient and often unpleasant in cars these days.

I can't tell you why "drivers" do this, as it's never happened to me.
I can't even really tell you why this particular driver did it, since you haven't even told us what he shouted.

Gosh there are a lot of angry people in car parks about today.

I am skeptical about that. But maybe I am blessed where I live and work

On the flip side sometimes those in the parking space get annoyed at being asked politely if they’re about to leave.

Then I had it when leaving a full car park, a driver hovers so closely that I find it difficult to leave the bay. In supermarkets, park boot out.

These types of people are always idiots and usually men.

It was a man. Men do this. I’ve witnessed it 3/4 times and always a man. My Dad got into arguments whilst driving, my ex did and my current OH does. All men. Yes I know I’m unlucky, not all men blah blah.

They're nasty idiots too. It's silly, but I always feel happy when I'm leaving a space and I can see somebody (patiently) waiting for it with a smile on their faces, knowing that I've just made their day at no cost to me.

Because he has a tiny penis and feels he needs to exert his power over women. He has no friends, no life, and no purpose, so feels the best way to be a success in life is trying to belittle others.

In short, he's a nasty idiot.

Main Character Syndrome has really become one of the scourges of the present day. People don't even bother to hide how they despise you and how little they care about you now, when they want to do something and you dare to want to do the same thing too.

I once saw a young man berate an elderly man loudly in a carpark. Not sure what he did, maybe pulled into a space without indicating. The elderly man apologised but the rant was prolonged and aggressive. During this time the elderly man went to the back of the car and got out his walking frame. The young man disappeared pretty sharpish when the penny dropped that he was being a really obnoxious bully.

It sometimes helps me to think for a moment and realise that, whilst their unpleasant personality is a negative blip in my life, they go through their whole lives under that self-imposed cloud. It can't really make anybody truly happy being permanently that angry and confrontational.

I will not park in my local tescos (daytime) or sainsburys (ever) because I seem to have a shout at me sign on my head they beeped bully glare wheel spin camp out because your in their "spot" just not worth it i actually pay to park elsewhere rather than park for free at tescos! Unless I can get there for 8am or after 8pm I will not go in!

I once went back to the car in a full carpark to put something in the boot . A car thought I was leaving and and sat behind my empty car waiting for it to reverse out of the space as I had walked away from the front of the car .

I bet they had few cross words, although I wasn't there to hear them .

Just blow them a kiss! It disarms them, watch the face go from righteous anger to confusion.

One time a man was hovering too close for me to reverse out of the bay. Another man asked him to reverse a bit. The man reversed back and had an argument with the other man.

Meanwhile I reversed out and drove off. The two men were arguing. Saw another vehicle merrily parked in the bay i was in. Justice
