Is going to the circus a working class activity?

I was born and raised quite working class, husband middle class.
I saw tickets advertised for a circus in a nearby town and arranged to take our children. He came along and appreciated the silliness but commented that he was surprised I took them as it's quite a low class activity. Bit tongue in cheek. He doesn't really care, but typically we are more theatre / rugby types.

I have to say he's probably right but I didn't really realise this is a thing.

I don’t really love circus myself, but we went as children and were middle class. Also feel like it was the kind of activity that popped up in the kids books I read as a child and most of those kids were middle class (or posher).

"Rugby Types"

Having done marketing and sponsorship for a prem rugby club, you might have had a point 20/25 years ago, but the demographics have vastly shifted over the years. Which makes me think this is a wind up, or you're living in the past which, either way, is pathetic.

Bring him to Giffords Circus. It’ll blow his teeny tiny mind.

Hahaha that’s what I was just about to post! This is a circus you’d expect to see minor royals at.

Batteries do you go to this year’s? Best one ever!!!

Send him to Cirque De Solei … watch some people in way too tight bodysuits leap around the stage, alongside a baffling narrative, and no laughs.

I can appreciate both .. a bit of Cirque, and also a “Billy Smart” type affair.

Love Cirque de soliei, brilliant but very expensive.

@Gooseinthewood Just go to the circus, have a great day out. I took my DD and we took the DGC. Hot dogs, candy floss, crap shooting and hopefully win an oversized, cheap toy.

The kids love it, let them be the judge.

Sadly no. I bought tickets for my godson and his family as a birthday present (my late teen boys are no longer interested) but I ended up not being able to join them. Next year hopefully.
