AIBU to worry about safety of second-hand toys from 2003?

Ive decided this year to get some Christmas gifts for my daughter that are 2nd hand, mostly off vinted.

I bought a Peter Pan set that is "vintage" from 2003. I had one like this growing up, so thought it would be a nice addition to toys.
Anyway, after looking online it says old toys from before 2005 are unsafe for children and that there are dangerous phalates and other nasties in the plastic. And that plastic this old degrades and is bad for children.

She will be 33 months by Christmas so won't nesscarily be mouthing the toys But I'm concerned as some paint has chipped off and some little bits of the trees and boulders have chipped a bit.

Is this actually something to be concerned about, I wasn't before goggling but now unsure!?!

I wouldn’t be concerned but I had children from 1992 to 2017 and they all played with my toys from the 70s and 80s and some of my parent’s toys from the 30s(!) and 40s. My grandchildren and my youngest still do. (I’m also slightly horrified that early 2000s is even being considered as vintage 🤣)

I didn’t give my DC the Sindy toys I had kept. I was too concerned about plastic offgassing.

Unsafe in what way?
Unless there is lead paint on them, I probably wouldn't worry too much. Given the vast numbers of adults in the world who survived 80s and 90s toys, I am not convinced the risks are as high as we are led to believe.

Anyway, they will be fine.
