Inspiration for a night away with dc

I really want to do something with my kids this weekend. We aren’t too far from the Peak District so I thought maybe a nice walk somewhere, then I thought about maybe trying to find somewhere to stay overnight to make it a bit more of an adventure. Predictably most places are booked now. I can’t seem to make a decision on what to do. Kids are 5 and 13 so a bit of an age gap to cater for but both enjoy nature, beaches, we could do a city such as York and look at some galleries and museums.

I’ve just over-thought it now to the point where I’m not sure! Any hints, tips or recommendations.

DS loved the national space centre in Leicester if that's not too far from you? Depends which direction from the peak district you are. Has things to appeal to both age groups,
