Do you do this?

I know years ago people used to do this, I did used to love posting about my Ddog's birthday.
Does anyone find it a bit strange the people that still do it?
Casual aquintance/old friend recently posting one after the other about her father's birthday, partners birthday, none of them are on Sm
Is it to show off, I thought that had passed a few years ago?

Not trying to offend anyone, but I find it interesting the reasons behind people who post a lot.

I wonder what psychologists make of it.

No one's stopping you from scrolling past.

I know. I often do. I'm just curious about the reasons why.

I can't get worked up about it. Posting about a dog's birthday is weirder than a human's, the dog has no concept of a birthday.

This is true, but the humans being posted about don't see it either, so who is it for?

I also don't get worked up over it.

I do it for my children’s birthdays, with pics each year, mainly as it’s a nice record I think. A bit like the dreaded back to school pics, a bit tacky but actually when you look back it’s quite sweet to see them. I like to think when I’m dead they can look back and see it and appreciate it. We never print pics out these days so it’s basically an online photo album.

I don’t do it for other people or wish DH happy birthday etc, I just tell him to his face.. and definitely not dead relatives 🙄

Yes I understand that.

Is social media not a platform for people to share things that are special / important / interesting to them?

Seems quite normal that the birthday of someone you love would fall into those categories really.
