Airbnb guest let her dogs loose in my garden

I live on the same row of houses as an Airbnb. The Airbnb is in the middle of the row. My house and garden is at the end of the row, where there is a dropped kerb, and an open driveway/parking area leading into the garden. So there is no gate, just the driveway opening. Garden has usual garden things, like kids toys, sheds, raised planters, etc.

This morning, the Airbnb guest walked right past us putting kids in the car, she turned into my driveway, and walked into my garden - with 2 dogs. I was strapping the toddler in and honestly took me a few seconds to register what was going on. Once she reached the grass in the garden, she let the 2 dogs off the lead! And then they were running around my garden!! She was sort of wandering about, looking at my raised beds, totally casual.

So DH followed her and called after her "what are you doing??" I couldn't hear her reply but after a few seconds they both appeared back. The dogs were running about. One jumped into my car. I pushed it out and DH got in the car, sort of rolling his eyes. I heard the woman say "I was told it was dog friendly here...". Haha - what, in my garden!??

This is an absolutely wild thing for her to do, right?? The Airbnb isn't even next door. Like, there is no world in which she would have thought my garden was part of her Airbnb property. She just walked down the street, past a few houses, past ME and into my garden, to let her dogs run around it. Presumably to poo.

What on earth could have been going through her head??

A disabled parking space isn’t allocated specifically to a person or house, even if you as a disabled householder have requested a disabled space. it can be used by anyone with a blue badge.

@bt1234 I spent part of lockdown shaping odd bits of wood into spiked palings to which I placed inside the existing stick fence and hedge also cut spiky pyramid shapes which I screwed to the top of our back gate to stop intruders coming into our garden. That stopped the back garden poo problem.

It also stopped my having to deal with the idiots who blundered/broke through the stick fence in order to retrieve their dogs when they failed to come back or when their dogs "favourite toy[s]" landed in the back garden.

Apparently my expecting them to leave was rather unreasonable.

Gravel instead of grass deterred the picnickers from our front garden.

Of course you aren't the only ones who are respectful but for every respectful person staying there we would get 3 lots who weren't.
And surely you've been on holidays where other guests have been loud or made it unpleasant, imagine those people in suburbia among houses people live in.
Surely even though you are not like that you can see many would be. Only have to go out in public and see how differently people behave to know that.
They need to crack down on rules around air bnbs, how many there are in an area and I'd get rid of them completely tbh unless they're in a complex. They shouldn't be houses between others where people live permanently. They are disruptive regardless how respectful people think they are.

People always blame Boomers for the lack of available, reasonably priced housing to buy or rent - I blame air bnbs. Oddly people shut up quickly when air bnbs' role in the housing crisis is mentioned, so I can only assume they like to use air bnbs.

In fact no, I can’t think of a holiday where I came across loud or unpleasant fellow guests. I don’t tend to stay in hotels/at resorts, so maybe that makes a difference.
I have stayed in Airbnbs where there have been loud/disruptive neighbours, at least some of whom presumably live there permanently.

The thing is, I don't hate dogs. Far from it. I am very aware that a dog's 'bad behaviour', whether it be jumping up at people, prolonged barking, grabbing people's food, running into someone's garden, or whatever, is always always the owner's responsibility/fault.

You're the type of inconsiderate arsehole that we're all on about. I have dogs but they would never be off lead and they're taught manners. They're not my fur babies. They're adult dogs and pets. Not human children.

I too have dogs and I would never do what the Op has described. It's simply unacceptable behaviour.

In unfamiliar places or when circumstances dictate my dogs are on the lead. It's the typical lazy all dog owners statement I was responding to. Are there inconsiderate or entitled dog owners out there? Of course there and some days feels like it's a growing minority but it's not all dog owners.

Well I am Gen X myself. And when I was in my 20s and 30s I could guarantee that if someone was moaning it was a "gentle"man of a certain age,

And it is still is, but now I am close to the same age bracket.

It isn't a competition. My experience doesn't change because yours was "better"..

I don't know what else to say to you. Your experience is clearly the only one that matters to you, to the extent that you would introduce rules/legislation to suit just you. Bit of an ego trip really, but hey, if it makes you feel good.

Again its not a competition. Never was. Never said my experience was all that mattered but you're trying to diminish my lived experience by your anecdotal one about being perfect guests..... Weird argument and completely pointless.
I lived among them and they were regularly bad and we had to move. I could show you police reports neighbours had to file..
So how perfect you are as a guest is irrelevant here to what it was like in our area several times a month.

Just as you’re saying some Airbnb guests are a nightmare, I’m saying some Airbnb guests are very well behaved and pleasant.
I think suggesting legislating against them all because of some is heavy-handed. That’s all.

That’s a bit harsh. I have never led my dog to some random person’s garden. Don’t know anyone else who has either. This is either a lunatic or a comms error. Clearly it’s not a standard dog owner issue?
