Parking fine confusion- worth appealing?

I booked an RCP car park in a city centre via an app and paid in advance. Arrived and parked with no issues, stayed the allocated time etc. I've received a parking fine in the post and after some investigation it turns out there are two virtually identical open air car parks on that street, with the same yellow RCP sign listed as that same area of the city, and i parked in the wrong one, nightmare.

Has anyone else had this and successfully appealed? I'm hoping they'll apply discrétion as I've still paid for a space in one of their car parks, but i don't want to get my hopes up.

It’s worth a try in my opinion, it must have happened to others too. Good luck!

Thank you. Im thinking it must be common, they're next to each other on the same narrow street, or maybe they deliberately keep it vague to profit from the fines

Did you have to input your Reg? I think if you did, you have more chance of success.

On the app I was asked to input it if that counts

I would definitely appeal - I had one cancelled recently because one half of a long road was called one name and the other half another name and I accidentally paid for parking under the name of the wrong half of the street. They cancelled it on first appeal as I had paid and not overstayed so there’s no loss to them at all

I think it should go in your favour, less chance of deliberately parking in a different place imo.

If the car park you used is the same price or cheaper than the one you booked, then they have not suffered financial loss and I would think you stand a good chance of appealing successfully.
