Toddler hates bath all of a sudden

When it was a heatwave a few weeks ago I put my child in the bath to cool him down and to play with toys as just something to do for him.

He didn't like how the water made the skin on his hand all wrinkle up and began screaming.

Before this he loved a bath.
I couldn't get him out.

I have done loads to try and get him in the bath.
Got him flash up cars.
A bubble machine for the bath.
Bubble bath.
Various other bath toys.

He won't even go on and I have to give him a sponge bath with him screaming standing up.

He washes his hands OK and plays with water paint.

Really struggling here now.
He has just been screaming for 30 minutes as he wanted to remove the bubble machine from the bath wall and also because I put him in the bath.

TIA x

Stick them under the shower. It’s honestly not worth the daily battle.

Just give him a quick wash standing up in the shower with the hand held attachment until he gets over it, which won’t be long, everything is always a phase with toddlers.

@Drivingmissrangey
Do you mean a normal shower or a kids shower head?
Many thanks

We rarely did baths - took too long. From when they were little they came into the shower with us

Have you tried water play out of the bath? Mine went through a phase of hating the bath or any kind of running water after spilling a hot coffee we thought was out of reach. Lots of cool water play, gradually warming it. Then moving the toys into the bath when happy and putting my own arms in as well as showering with him and he was back to his bath loving self. Did take a few weeks mind

Mine flipped like this. It was hell, even with using the quick shower over the bath. Screamed the whole time.

One day I bought some lush bath jelly and suddenly it was fine 🤨🫠

It will flip again. Just stay calm and keep doing regular baths without making a big fuss of it.

I will try a shower over the bath.
Thing is I have to hold him standing up with one arm as he just goes mad.

I got the bath we used when he was a baby downstairs and he just began shaking his head screaming. Was going to play with some of his flashing bath cars but he just wasn't having it

Just a normal shower, never heard of a kids shower head. Make sure you have decent non-slip shower mats, they are easy enough to find.

@Drivingmissrangey - Thank you.
I will try giving him a shower tonight.
