We were on our way back from somewhere yesterday and stopped at a services place on the motorway. My son wanted a chocolate bar my daughter a packet of crisps and I chose a drink. How much?

Shenhanigans · Today 16:43

Morepositivemum · Today 16:43

Nearly 10 pound. I don’t know how they can justify such high prices when a 6 pack of each item would be at most a couple of quid. Needless to say we put the items back and waited til we got home . Could have gotten a meal deal from marks and Spencer for 6.50. The only other places were Burger King or kfc and I don’t like fast food so.

I'll take a stab at them all being around £4 each, so £12 in total.

Loulou4022 · Today 17:06

I pay just over £6 for that at Gloucester services which I think is an expensive one but it’s all unique small batch, small business stuff so happy to pay as it’s so tasty. Spar at Strensham is around £4.50 for branded items.
Just seen your update of £10!!! Was it all grab bag, large sizes as that’s seems excessive! As I say I pay £6 at Gloucester and that’s an expensive farm shop type services!!
I buy a lot of snacks from services on the M5 and M1 and have never paid that much!!

There's no way on this planet I would have spent £10 on what you describe.

YABU for this thread. It’s a services, going to be overpriced.

EndofDaze · Today 18:48

I was at Wetherby Services on the A1 on Friday at about 1pm. It was rammed. I couldn’t get over how many people were eating and drinking at the food outlets or queueing in the M&S for sandwiches. I used the loo then slunk out to eat my home made pack up in the car.

heidi696 · Today 20:04

@EndofDazesnap!! We were there around that time on Friday too - not where I bought these snacks. Yes it was so crowded I never saw anything like it!!! We had to queue to get into the car park. Didn’t buy anything either. Had picnic that day.

Not read the comments so I can try and answer without being influenced 😁

Ooft! May I ask if it was a North or South motorway?!
I based my guess on Northern prices

ChocolateApples · Today 20:10

Services are always bad. Essentially you are paying for the free toilets and parking that they have to offer. And chocolate crisps and drinks have all gone up so much. But I still guessed over a fiver! What were they exactly because that makes a difference. I was thinking Cadbury 40g bar £1.50, Walkers crisps same and £2+ for 500ml bottle of Coke, although that last is definitely optimistic.

MrsOni · Today 20:11

Par for the course for services. You are paying for the convenience of the location.

Exactly, they know you've got no choice as they're the only ones around so they can pull your pants down price wise so to speak and you've got no choice to put up with it 😭😡😁
