AIBU to be annoyed about costly branded state school uniform?

I have just spent £160 on 4 items. The supplier told me that they have no unbranded alternatives. One of the PE tops has house colours and the other top has 2 colours so no supermarket alternatives. Same with other PE items. With the blazer, tie, blouse, 2 pe tops, skorts or shorts, tracksuit etc this is well over the 4 item threshold. Things like jumpers have been put as optional so unless you have the branded no jumper. I wouldn’t mind but the quality is crap for the money and £27 for shorts for a state school is ridiculous as is £60 for a PE top. Sadly other local schools like ours seem to think the legislation doesn’t apply to them. AIBU to feel p……d off?

Several years ago, I thought the government was going to tackle this and ensure that there were supermarket options for the majority of uniform items. Clearly that hasn’t happened and you’re not unreasonable to expect cheaper prices and better quality.

When mine were at secondary school, the KS3 boys had a grey jumper and the girls, red. In KS4 the boys had black and the girls maroon. I couldn’t even hand them down to the younger one.

Send a formal complaint op

school is breaching the new rules

logo items include things like certain colours that are not possible to buy elsewhere

id buy only 3 items logoed and refuse to purchase any more than that

i purposefully chose a school with just plain joggers and any white polo for the uniform - other schools had crazy uniform
