Help the wildlife in the heatwave please. And don't forget to put some stones or pebbles in so wildlife can safely escape. thanks

Bump for your thread, I ready do this.

PensionPTake · 13/08/2026 15:21

We have a raised birdbath, an on the ground dish and a dish full of pebbles I top up each day.

i know it was advised we stop feeding the birds over summer a while back but is this still the case? Especially with the weather.

Done

Doingtheboxerbeat · 13/08/2026 15:22

Definitely - I have to put water in my mum's birdbath daily and the pots of water for the hedgehogs is dry every morning 😳.

hamnish · 13/08/2026 15:23

I've got dishes out under the hedges, and they're emptied most mornings in this weather. Plus water for the birds. It's so grim for wildlife, this weather. It's eerily quiet.

purplecorkheart · 13/08/2026 15:24

Yes I have a few of these in my garden and top up morning and evenings. It is such a joy watching the birds washing themselves and also what bird get priority. There is a strict order.

MyDpsanarse · 13/08/2026 15:26

@PensionPTake I'm still feeding the birds but only suet/fat balls and meal worms- if you soak the meal worms over night it gives them extra moisture. Don't forget the hedgehog, some soft meat flavoured cat food will be very welcome

OneDreamyAquaEagle · 13/08/2026 17:13

Totally agree and already do. Who on earth would think this is an unreasonable request? I despair.

Feckitanyway123 · 13/08/2026 17:17

Thanks for posting - will do when I get home

Pinkpanther111 · 13/08/2026 17:19
