Sertraline or Citalopram?

I was prescribed Citalopram for post partum anxiety a couple of years ago. I was on it for about 18 months with fairly good results.

However, I woke up one day and suddenly realised that the stone I’d randomly gained and the dramatic hair loss, both started within 6 months of me starting Citalopram. Both of these things were making me so unhappy that I weaned myself off it and haven’t been on anything since February.

However, I realise I really need to go back on. My moods are terrible, I’m so irritable and anxious.

I thought I might ask the dr for Sertraline instead? But am unsure whether this will also just bring me the same problems in terms of weight gain and hair loss?

Does anyone have any positive stories or has anyone been on both and preferred one over the other?

Such a personal thing. Everyone’s body responds do differently .

You need to talk to your dr.

what one person will rave about as transformative will be awful and a nightmare drug for another.

Go and see your gp discuss your symptoms and side effects and see what they suggest.

Are you sure it was the citalopram? There is very significant hair loss post partum anyway due to hormone changes. I took no meds, and still had clumps of hair coming out. It all started to settle around 18months pp and now is fine (DD2 is 2.5y).
