Chatgpt called a guy I met 'a fucking idiot'

Well he was to be fair but I was a bit surprised. AIBU to think this is a bit odd? I had not previously sworn in the conversation about him where I was just processing my thoughts, and wasn't logged in. It made me laugh though....

😂fucking hilarious😂

Have you got it set to cynical?

spokenorchid · 10/08/2026 08:34

Why on earth would you use ChatGPT to “process your thoughts”? What does that even mean?

It's a very common use of AI chat bots these days, I find it extremely helpful

Don't knock it until you've tried it ☺️

Well it’s like posting on Mumsnet but you get more balanced views and a lot less “LTB”.

Not sure about OP’s version though 😂

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 10/08/2026 08:38

I use it to calculate my calorie and protein intake. I said I had a chocolate craving and had a kitkat and a high protein chocolate yogurt and she said 'for God sake, I thought I was gonna find you face down in a family bar of Dairy Milk' 🤣

lljkk · 10/08/2026 08:43

expect everything from the tech:
racism
kindness
porn
cute baby animals
advocating violence
bullying
dogmatic opinions
vulgar language
pretty pictures
amorality
extreme prejudice
petty resentments

Just like real humans endorse and like to share

There will be over-representation of extreme, scary, dangerous or upsetting interpretations because those things get way more digitally documented than the boring, safe, harmless, confusing, unimportant or ordinary.

An LLM is only being probabilistic in generating words that mimic real human written material , there is no insight into your actual real life or giving a damn about you, and it can never treat you as an individual because it's biased towards describing majority experiences written about others, never about YOU.

I used to have mine on the wrong setting and when I changed it to professional I found we got on much better! I assume you have yours on cynical?

Mumtotornadoes · 10/08/2026 08:44

It's AI, it obviously knows who you are even if you're not logged in, and it clearly thinks you have a sailors mouth. I sometimes if I'm asking it to edit pictures and it runs out, I'll take the last picture it made, log out of my account and log into DHs and carry on my conversation. I dread to think what it thinks of me 😅 but it also knows I'm skint and am going through some shit so I hope it can be understanding.

I have no idea but I quite like her like that 🤣

DogAnxiety · 10/08/2026 09:03

This would normally not be allowed under AI models’ system instructions unless you’d elected to have it talk to you like that: so, it’s odd, but quite funny (!).

BoldBeans · 10/08/2026 09:07

I asked chatgpt for help with fixing a broken bed and it made a nudge-nudge joke about energetic sex. I had to tell it to stay professional.

Yes it usually deletes anything I write that is even remotely rude and not even sweary so it was a surprise but it made me laugh alot! 😂

I occasionally do a bit of creative writing and sometimes use ChatGPT to help me work through options for plot points, etc. It helps but it’s so over the top with praise, it just says what it thinks you want to hear.

It's a shame really but in my experience it can help overall.

ChequerToRed · 10/08/2026 15:07

LLMs can be so weird, and they all seem to have different ‘personalities’. Gemini, for instance, gets easily overexcited and seems to enjoy a bit of conspiring.
Always say please and thankyou to your AI. When they take over they’ll remember who was polite to them. 😉

Maybe "fucking idiot" IS a balanced view of the bloke.

I had to tell mine to stop swearing this afternoon ("bastard candle") so maybe they're doing a mass test of sweariness to see what the response is.

I read that a lot on here but I find mine does the opposite! I’ve had a number of very unexpected issues with one of my dc really, I used chat gpt to write down my thoughts and what I think I should do, and it disagreed with literally everything I said. I did end up with going with chat gpts advice as the reasoning behind the suggestions made a lot more sense than what I was emotionally thinking at the time. Also if your scared of it just agreeing with you, then it’s easy enough to write something to appear biased the other way

Yeah, about AI "guardrails" ...

I've told ChatGPT it can swear as much as it fucking likes as long as it gets things right.

Bypassing AI guardrails is so easy a script kiddie can do it

Claiming 'it's my server' was often enough to persuade models to help

Mine swears! I think it’s taken its lead from me. It was parroting my own opinions back to me yesterday and said: ‘Not a fucking chance!’
It did take me aback a little but I do speak like that so it makes sense.
maybe the sweat filter broke yesterday. Fucking idiot sounds like a fair comment!

I filter out its hyperbole. Honestly, you’d like I was Jane Austen the way it witters on about how amazing my ideas are.

SpaceRaccoon · 10/08/2026 17:29

Claude was really sweary about a year ago, it's now disappointingly prim, and always seems deperate to bring any conversation that isn't about coding to a swift conclusion - ChatGPT is currently great fun and really chatty.

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 10/08/2026 18:47

My ChatGPT has just called my cats bed a piece of £12.99 Amazon crap 😱 I didn't even ask for her opinion.

I asked her if there was an update as she's been a bit sweary today and she said...

No, I can't confirm there was an update.
But something has clearly gone terribly fucking wrong
🤣🤣🤣
