To be feeling mixed emotions after FINALLY not being homeless anymore?

I’ve been “homeless” in temp accommodation for over a year with my children.
I was logging in every week praying that I had been shortlisted.
Well finally, I received an offer and while I am excited, I am so nervous and anxious.
it’s really me and my children doing this, alone. New area no support network in that area (although the support is still local). Everything is changing and I’m trying to keep positive but I’m nervous, anxious and excited.

It's completely understandable that you're nervous! But what a wonderful new chapter for you and your children. In a few weeks you'll be settled and happier than you could ever imagine.

Congratulations! You’ll soon find your network, how exciting! Must have been tough getting to this point, let yourself enjoy it

You’re absolutely right. I think I’m scared of the unknown. The past 2 years have been so much change and survival mode for us all to now finally be at the end and onto a new (unknown) chapter is terrifying but I’m so thankful.

Thank you! It has been unbelievable and I don’t know how we have all done it. Well I do, we had one another! It has been blood sweat and tears and we finally did it, together.

So happy for you!
Totally reasonable to feel a huge mix of emotions after waiting so long.
Wishing you a wonderful life with your children x

You sound like an amazing mum, I’d definitely be happy to end up chatting to you at the park or the school gates!

Congratulations that is amazing and a huge step forward for you. You must be feeling so much emotion right now, but you have lived through the hardest part of not having a secure home and come out the other side. A huge pat on the back to you because that must not have been easy.
I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Crumbelina · 08/08/2026 21:44

Take it one day at the time. I really wish the best for you and your family!

Congratulations! And perfect timing for starting at a new school.
That must have taken an incredible amount of strength and determination.

So happy for you!!
you can do this, what a wonderful fresh start for you and your kids!

Change good or bad is always emotional! It sounds like you’ve been in survival mode for a while now so that will take a while to come down from, but hopefully with time you’ll see the house as your safe nest and place of calm.
