Hello, I’m hoping that you would be able to give me some advice. I married with one child. My husband has been increasing becoming irritated by the ways we spilt the bills and I am hoping for some critical friends here.
The Mortage used to be £750 a month but for the last year it has increased to £1,650 a month. So previously all the household bills were £1,700 a month but now they are £2,600 a month. I give £900 a month as I pay for all of our son’s activities, food and clothes . Our son has a speech impediment so has private speech and language at £60 a session - his speech has improved significantly. Plus he does violin at £25 per week, tennis £77 a term, drums £40 a term and drama school £177 a term. Normally I spend about £120 on food a week. Due to my husband working patterns he isn’t around in the evenings or most weekends so I am constantly with our child and do activities most weekends. However my husband has a wonderful social life and will go out with the lads at least twice a month to the pub or a meal, plus he goes to a gaming night once a month and can hit the gym most days. Hence has had two lads holidays this year and has another one upcoming. I also take and pick up our son most days from school. I have not been out with my friends or had a girls holiday coming up to 4 years and going out for a coffee or meal hasn’t happened for the last four years either. we both earn the same amount of money and both work full time and I am based from home.
my husband feels I should give more to the household bills however I am very reluctant to do this, as our son is 9 and he has only brought two items of clothes for him ever a pack of underwear and some PJs that’s it. I am scared if I give more to the household bills I won’t have money to take my son out at weekends or have much fun with him.
do you feel I am wrong in my thinking
