How to get rid of the ick?

there are two people in my life who I have to/ would like to spend time with but they are both really annoying (to me). I would love some strategies to get over my feelings of annoyance towards them so I can spend time with them without feeling the rage. Any ideas? Thankyou!

Why do you want to spend time with them if they give you the ick / annoy you? Just move on?

Well one is part of my family so have to spend time with her. The other is a the mum of my sons friend, we used to hang out alot which was really fun but Ive been avoiding her recently, would like to go back to our previous relationship.

You want the previous relationship you had with someone you now find annoying and who's company you don't enjoy? That's not going to be possible surely. Better to invest the energy into finding new connections with people who are a good fit. I probably wouldn't hang out with someone who had obviously been avoiding me either.

Nobody has to spend time with anyone. There are scores of people on here who are No Contact with family members, for good reasons, and are better off.

I don't think forcing anything will ever work long term.

What is it about them that gives you the “ick”

By remembering the term itself was made up on social media and that we all do things others find uncomfortable or weird sometimes.
