You can listen to your body and accept a nap is needed! Enjoy it! Set yourself an alarm if you want to.

an alarm is a good idea
when it is not hot i force myself to go out for a walk after lunch but i feel i have got into a bad habit.

You get up early. It's your bodies way of saying you need a bit more shuteye!

Just go with the flow. Its something I did with none sleeping babies / toddlers in the house. Got up at crack of dawn with them, and went back to bed after lunch when DH was firmly in charge (and awake - he doesn't do mornings but is coming into his own now teens want to be collected way after my bedtime!).

And it's still something I'll do occasionally if ive had a tough week.

I think it makes sense when you're up so early. I did this once during the heatwave so I could get some exercise when it was cooler and really enjoyed it. If it wasn't for the kids I'd do that every day during a heatwave.

i remember doing the same when ds was a baby Smile

Follow your bodies needs - if it needs sleep then don't resist it!

I'm in my 60s and get up early (6am) to swim every morning. I always have a little nap after lunch. Absolutely love it to the extent that I look forward to it. I set the alarm for an hour and feel great afterwards.

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/08/2026 08:19

Why would a nap be a ‘bad habit’? What’s wrong with a nap if you want one, doesn’t sound like you’re shirking any responsibilities.

sashh · 02/08/2026 08:24

Isn't this a siesta? Nothing wrong with that.
