But they're not fleeing to Europe, are they? Last I saw, Ceuta is not in mainland Spain. It's an enclave in North Africa.

Tbf the migrants they interviewed were talking about a better life in Europe with better healthcare etc so they definitely see it as a way into mainland Europe

Not really - there’s a lot of disparity in the world and it’s more about being ‘fair’. It’s not about aid or telling other countries what to do with money it’s about ensuring countries don’t have one hand tied behind their back due to constraints.

Not to mention that for a wealthy western nation we have our own shocking levels of deprivation, poverty, homelessness and people using food banks so I don't think we should be giving lessons to anyone else until we sort our own inequalities out.

I am sure there are issues with life in Morocco but we should not look down on other countries without taking a good look in the mirror first.

Literally billions and billions is given by richer countries to poorer under the International Foreign Aid fund. I've often wondered if it achieves much really given most of the recipients want to leave their countries for other lands anyway.

Foreign Aid is huge, it is based on a donor country's GDP so the richer the country the bigger the contribution. Somehow I think a portion of that should be channelled towards helping those countries most affected by mass migration from aid funded countries at this stage.

I'm sorry to say it, but I'd imagine there is a lot of wastage and corruption going on with foreign aid funds in certain countries. As for teaching a man to fish, well yes that would be a goal, together with building infrastructure, wells, improving health and education etc. I'm sure there are programmes dealing with that, but no matter how much money is contributed, it is never enough and I am not sure it is being spent as wisely as we would expect.

Hence the constant migration to the First World. Grass is greener.

A lot of aid money is wasted by the donor countries themselves - often they spend vast amounts on consultants coming up with projects that aren’t really relevant or they put conditions in place that mean the goals will never be achieved

When you spend time in some countries that should be benefiting from aid projects and you see how the money is wasted throughout the chain it’s very depressing!

Lots of countries have colonised others over the centuries, killed people and exploited populations. I don't know why we're singled out for special criticism. How many normal citizens benefited anyway? Most of our ancestors were scratching a living from the land, getting killed down the mines or working for slave wages in factories.

I'd imagine the King of Morocco is living in luxury somewhere far away from his poorer subjects. An authoritarian ruler, reminds me of Ben Ali in Tunisia. It seems this mass incursion was orchestrated by the Moroccan authorities in their ongoing dispute with Spain over both Western Sahara and Ceuta and Melilla. It seems that the vast majority had no intention to stay and have voluntarily returned.
